44 www.thejewelrybook.com In this new year, I am not going to ask you about your resolutions, but I am going to ask you to refl ect on 2019 in order to prepare for a terrifi c 2020! In fact, I am going to ask you to refl ect with your employees. Have everyone in your store answer the following questions. The replies will offer insight into top moves from last year that you may want to carry over, and what may need to change. Let's begin! What sale were you most proud of in 2019? What was the smartest decision you made for your store in 2019? What one word best sums up and describes your 2019 experience at your store? What was the greatest lesson you learned from a customer in 2019? What was the most memorable moment of customer service you offered in 2019? What is the biggest piece of unfi nished business you have in 2019? What are you most happy about complet- ing in your career in 2019? Who were the three customers that had the greatest impact on your business in 2019? What important business relationship improved the most in 2019? What compliment would you like to have given to a customer and didn't in 2019? What was the best compliment a customer gave you in 2019? What one business event would you like to change in 2019? What else do you need to do or say to be complete with 2019? Review your answers and think of the new year we are starting. Are there any answers you would like to change? Then fast-forward 12 months and ask yourself how you would like to answer these next year. I recommend you go over this with your team and make it an activity. Give your staff time to fi ll out the answers pri- vately and then come together as a group to discuss. Finally, end your meeting with ques- tions about the year ahead. This could be a two-day workshop to help inspire staffers. Here are some queries to consider: What can we do as a store to be better in 2020? How can we make our customer experi- ence better in 2020? How can we show more appreciation for our customers in 2020? What would you do in the store if you weren't afraid of making the move? What are you working toward in your career here in 2020? How can you become more curious in your everyday work in 2020? How can you boost your store in your community in 2020? What have you been resisting at the store that could help you grow, and how will you change that in 2020? What new skills will you need to develop at the store in 2020? Side note: Need help? Contact me Pat@thejewelrycoach.com and I will be happy to facilitate these meetings for you. Here's to a great start to 2020! Best of luck to everyone and congratulations on what I am sure what was a successful year.
