20 www.thejewelrybook.com Mindfulness and Healthy Thinking for 2020 Greetings, friends! I hope everyone had a blessed holiday season. Our family certainly did. I adore the holidays! Thanksgiving is my favorite because my husband Jeff does a mas- terful job of cooking the turkey, and we are visited by some brilliant relatives whom we only see once a year. Christmas is a blast because we invite friends who are lacking family, and because we have "dog Christmas" in the morning. Yes, it's exactly what you think: we wrap up gifts for the dogs and they open them. And now that our Bosnian rescue, Elsa the Caucasian Shepherd (also called a Russian Bear Dog) has been with us for six months, it's fun to introduce her to extended family and watch her realize she's in her forever home. In the new year, I'll be making strides to fi ll my mind with quality ingredients. That means listening to insightful podcasts at the gym instead of watching junk food pro- gramming on Netfl ix. It also means starting each day reading a spiritual passage as well as practicing spiritual meditation. I want to start each day in peace in order to best defl ect any negative circumstances that arise and am hopeful to see lasting change. In the jewelry arena, Nicole and I are excited to share this issue with you. Our colum- nists have focused their content on the theme of a new year, and the resulting articles are rich in meaningful content. Social media guru Benjamin Guttery, G.G., highlights some easy ways for retailers to elevate their online games, while Pat Henneberry teaches readers to thoughtfully refl ect on the year past in order to move ahead. And Peter Smith talks about a New Year's resolution borrowed from a friend. Other content includes pieces by yours truly, including a trend page on modern pearl designs and a feature article with expert opinions on the most important themes and topics for 2020. Finally, Collector Insights returns! This will now assume the last page of the magazine instead of Giving Back (GB). While GB is certainly a worthy type of article, Nicole and I felt that the on-the-street consumer research I conduct was more important to better connect our industry of beautiful jewels and people with the jewelry-loving public. Most importantly for The Jewelry Book readers, know that we appreciate your support. By reading our proprietary content, by connecting with the beautiful advertisers on our pages, and by staying in touch with Nicole and me—we will both be at the Centurion trade show as well as others—TJB can continue to offer you information and designs that can help propel your business forward. And for a daily dose of beautiful jewelry, trends, and consumer conversations, subscribe to www.JenniferHeebner.com. Happy New Year! Here's to a great 2020 for us all.
