Sunday @10am Jan. 26th By Jackie Deal We can't recapture your youth for you. But maybe we can help you re- live some memories - some musical memories, that is. In the 50s, 60s and 70s Floyd Cramer and Chet At- kins were "household words" mak- ing unparalleled music. Some of you are fortunate enough to have seen them; most of us remember them. Now to revive their memories, we have Floyd Cramer's Grandson and Chet Atkins Grandniece coming to the Quartzsite Improvement Asso- ciation (QIA). Known as "The Nash- ville Legacy" they use the magic of videos and their own superb talent to bring back the past. When Jason Cramer was only four years old he performed with his Granddad on Nashville Now. At age seventeen he played for the post- humous induction of Floyd Cramer into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Performing now he says, "The most fun part for me is to see how much these songs mean to so many people. How just a few notes are all it takes to transport you to a different time and place. It's what makes sharing Grandad's music so special." Meagan Coleman, Chet Atkins Grandniece, started on the piano but switched to fi ddle at age ten when "Uncle Chet" gave her a les- son. At eighteen as Chet's health failed, he taught her "some of his techniques" on the guitar. She has mastered these techniques that made Chet Atkins one of the out- standing guitarists. In the fi rst half of their show they explore the history, music and ca- reers of Floyd Cramer and Chet Atkins. The second half they per- form the music of other greats such as Elvis and the Everly Brothers. They will perform two shows at the Quartzsite Improvement Associa- tion on Saturday, January 25 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $45, $35, $25 based on sections. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the QIA offi ce; and they will also be available at the door. The QIA offi ce is located at 235 E. Ironwood. The offi ce is open Monday thru Friday 9 am to 12 noon. For more informa- tion call 928-927-6325. Nashville Legacy in concert Jan. 25
