Chandler St. Gregory McNamee is a writer, edi- tor, photographer, and publisher. He is the author of 40 books, more than 6,000 articles, and other pub- lications. He is a contributing editor to the Encyclopedia, a research fel- low at the Southwest Center of the University of Arizona; and a lecturer in the Eller School of Management, University of Arizona. Six hundred miles long from its source in the mountains of South- western New Mexico, to its confl u- ence with the Colorado River above Yuma, the Gila River has been an important avenue for the move- ment of birds, animals, plants and peoples across the desert for mil- lennia. Many cultures have sprung up on its banks, and millions of people depend on the river today. Gregory McNamee's prizewinning book "Gila: The Life and Death of an American River," presents a bi- ography of this vital resource. Think of it as 70 million years of history packed into an entertaining, infor- mative hour. Children attending will be mak- ing DIY remedy kits and hand- crafted herbal remedies for the whole family. The Quartzsite Fire District will be burning the Brush Pile located at 2054 N. Central Blvd. near the Waste Water Treatment Plant. On JANUARY 2nd, 2020 starting at 8:00pm. Planned burn Jan. 2 Museum Village lights up for Christmas Quartzsite Museum will be open for a special presentation of Barrett's Village all decked out for the holi- days. Volunteers have put in many hours to create a beautiful scene out- side the museum, next door to Silly Al's on W. Main. St.There will be drinks to keep you warm while you enjoy the lights.
