I want to start by congratulating the undergraduates for another great semester. While there have been some issues with house cleanliness, the collegians have quickly addressed all alumni concerns and have kept the house running smoothly. Just some quick factoids: the chapter has the third-highest GPA on campus; ZERO borough points, down from 7; and we are currently the largest chapter of ΑΓΡ in the entire country. Great progress from a group of great young leaders! I want to thank all the alumni who have come back into the mix. We have two new board members, John Merenick '86 (Γ1236) and Rob McLaren '15 (Γ1701), who have stepped up to the plate and been great additions to the board with fresh perspectives. With a growing group of active alumni, the increased alumni attention has helped the current chapter grow and develop properly. Special thanks our adviser trio, Corey Hudson, Kevin Wimpfheimer '15 (Γ1685), and Bryan Dillehay. Their on-site presence has helped immensely! The undergraduates have been firing on all cylinders, as you'll see in this issue. From my perspective, our weakest link right now is our alumni involvement. Please get involved! Honestly, you can pretty much pick any position or initiative you want; we run on volunteers so almost everything is up for grabs. Or at the VERY least, subscribe to get our alumni emails. You can always unsubscribe if you change your mind. Last thing; I sound like a broken record, but we really need alumni donations to pay down our mortgage debt. At the time of this publication, we have $950,000 in mortgage debt remaining. Currently, undergraduate rent is slated to pay off 80% of this debt over the next 15 years, and we're handcuffed in doing any major chapter repairs until 2034 at the current rate. So, unless someone out there wants to donate $100,000, we have to beg for money every Gamma Crescent. Please sign up to pledge $5 a month on our website at https://www.agrgamma.com/giving. That's crazy affordable for the all the fun you had in college! In August, Frank Reist '73 (Γ1041) hosted an AΓΡ picnic at his home in Lebanon, Pa. Attendees were Dave Hartman '76 (Γ1081), Pen Hallowell Jr. '73 (Γ1030), Randy Koop '75 (Γ1065), Bruce Mungai '72 (Γ1019), Ed Hartman '75 (Γ1062), Jeff Reitz '72 (Γ1023), Jim Faust '72 (Γ1018), Steve Ferrara '74 (Γ1048), Otis Skovira '72 (Γ1016), Frank Reist '73 (Γ1041), Doug Bowersox '75 (Γ1068), Tim Kissing '76 (Γ1079), and Dennis Crider '74 (Γ1052). Attendance was better than past years, as many of these guys are retired! The Purpose of Alpha Gamma Rho T he experience of pledging Alpha Gamma Rho and becoming an active member of Gamma Chapter taught me there is nothing life can throw me that I can't handle. Pledging and becoming a part of the brotherhood stretched my ability to be resilient in the face of the unknown. It humbled me as I had to do tasks and duties that I didn't enjoy and felt beneath me. That humbling experience gave me a newfound respect for my future brothers. Learning how to earn respect has served me well in my personal life, work life, and everyday life. I not only learned respect for my new brotherhood, but I also learned a greater respect for the ΑΓΡ house. Our house was a social place, a place of pride, and a reflection of the brothers that lived in the house. As a pledge and a brother, we all worked hard to keep the house clean. We were grateful to live in such a beautiful house that had been the home of many successful alumni. We conducted work sessions throughout the semester where all the brothers worked together on common projects and general house (Continued on page 2)
