O n October 27, we held a Kappa Alpha Homecoming brunch at the Chapter House. It was so exciting to host sisters who hadn't visited 555 West Jefferson Street in many years. During the meal all the old songs were sung, bringing back fun memories of recruitment, Chapter meetings, and so much more. We hope to hold many more Kappa Alpha Homecoming weekends in coming years! In the meantime, reach out to your sisters and reconnect. When you hear of a gathering, make the effort and time to attend. Life goes by so fast. Always look for the chance to come home to Kappa Delta. HOMECOMING BRUNCH Always ink of KD 4 R eflecting on our fall semester, Kappa Alpha has made many great things happen! This August, we welcomed home 78 fabulous new members during a successful recruitment. We cannot wait to see their impact on Kappa Alpha. Our Chapter size is now 251 women. In September, we hosted our parents for Florida State's Family Weekend. We loved celebrating with our families, having a delicious lunch at the Chapter House, and, of course, cheering on the Noles! For our sisterhood trip, we traveled to Orlando and attended Universal Studio's Halloween Horror Nights, bonding with our sisters while riding rollercoasters and eating turkey legs. Kappa Alpha hosted its first-ever Kappa Delta Fall Cookout for our fall philanthropy event. We had food, yard games, and a live band. It was an amazing success. Another October highlight was our big/little reveal! Everyone was excited for the new additions to their "families." We also held our two large date functions this fall, Semi-Formal and Flamingo Flock. These events were once again a huge hit with our members. Finally, this semester our academic chairman ran a career workshop at the Chapter House. We utilized some wonderful photographers within our own sisterhood to take professional headshots of our members. This workshop was great for our women because they were able to dress up, take nice photos for their LinkedIn profiles/resumes, and network with each other. As always, we welcome alumnae to come visit the Chapter House and share your Kappa Delta memories with us! Our annual 5K run, Color Me KD, raised $25,797 for the Children's Home Society, Tallahassee's local charity helping prevent child abuse. Kappa Alpha's first-ever Cookies and Confidence event took place this past Valentine's Day. Tallahassee Troop 4007 sold Girl Scout cookies outside the Chapter House and participated in confidence-building activities.
