Remember safety and take extra care as you hang
all your holiday decorations and lights.
• Make sure lights and electric decorations have the
UL seal
• Be sure anything electrical put outdoors is labeled for
outdoor use
• Don't handle lights while they're plugged in
• Don't string too many lights together or overload sockets
• Never use cords that are frayed or damaged
• Don't run extension cords in traffic paths or over metal
• Make sure lights aren't touching paper or metal
• Keep electrical decorations away from water
• When using a ladder, keep it away from power lines
• Always unplug lights when you leave home or go to bed
• Keep real trees watered
• LED lights are safer, use less power and last much longer*

. . . Treating Our Environment with Care
Give your holiday tree a proper send-off. Rather than tossing it in
the trash, recycle it*. You'll be doing our local parks a big favor! For
nearly a quarter century Fayetteville PWC, the City of Fayetteville,
and Duke Energy Progress have partnered to recycle trees as mulch.
Fayetteville-Cumberland County Parks and Rec will use the mulch
for beds and paths. If you live within City limits, please put your
tree out for pick-up by the morning of January 6, 2020. Or drop off
your tree at the Community
Garden (intersection of Vanstory
and Mann Streets) any time
before 8:30am on Saturday,
January 11th.
