"e Carter-Jones house is a fairly new build compared to the others on the tour, and just beautifully decorated," Kennebeck continued. "Susan Allan's house is more traditional. Beautiful furnishings and artwork. Virginia Oliver's is a little more contemporary." Typically, the tour is staged on the first Sunday of December, but Kennebeck said the calendar didn't work in the society's favor this year. "e Christmas tour used to be our largest fundraiser," she said. "But we've added a few more (events) that have been successful. For us, a successful fundraiser makes $5,000. e Christmas tour in the past was the only fundraiser we did every year." In October, the organization sponsored Hauntings at Heritage Square with tours held every Friday and Saturday night as well as on Halloween night. As for the Christmas Home Tour, a $20 donation to the historical society covers the price of admission. e money, organizers said, will help with the upkeep of the historic properties. Refreshments will be served at Heritage Square. Hot spiced cider and seasonal cookie treats may just be the thing to pique your interest. Tickets will be available in advance at Leclair's General Store in Haymount and at e Pilgrim Gi Shop in Westwood Shopping Center.
