One event – a Yuletide Feaste – provides the chance for both. In its ninth year, the feaste is a kind of Renaissance-style dinner theater, with a four-course banquet and performances of Elizabethan- era Christmas classics by members of Methodist University's music department. e event is put on by the music department and the university's Friends of Music and will be held this year at 7 p.m. on December 6-7 at Haymount United Methodist Church. "is is Queen Elizabeth's court. It is a show wrapped around that idea," said Michael Martin, associate professor of music and director of choral activities and music education at Methodist University. "It is about a 50-minute show, with dinner and desserts. e plot is basically that the Queen is holding court at Christmas time." Martin introduced the idea of the event in 2011, inspired by a similar tradition he had participated in while attending Kent State University. Since that first year, the event has grown, both in popularity and in ambition.
