Delta Gamma at the University of Iowa Fall 2019 S ince we acquired our first Tau Chapter house in 1903, Delta Gamma has experienced a storied history at the University of Iowa and been a leader on campus. Over the summer, the House Corporation Board implemented changes so Tau may lead in another important area: going green. CONSERVATION EFFORTS To reduce paper towel consumption, collegians now have washcloths around the house that will be regularly laundered and reused. So far this fall, the active Chapter has worked toward conserving energy by paying attention to light usage in the house. We have also partnered with a composting service, which will help us manage our food waste for the benefit of our ecosystem. Speaking of food, we plan to install another refrigerator for the collegians. The additional food storage will help reduce the hassle of excess leftovers at night and on weekends, and will aid us in our goal to reduce the house's overall food waste. ADDITIONAL TOUCHUPS Summer, of course, is the ideal time to handle major updates and refurbishment efforts so our house is in tip-top shape for new and returning members. This year, we focused on fixing the front sidewalk as well as the parking lot entrance. In this time of challenges and reflection for Tau Chapter, your support for the collegians and your House Corporation Board is truly appreciated. We hope you will visit soon and see how the Chapter has grown in the last year. If so, then look no further. The House Corporation Board is searching for more volunteers. Tau sisters and Delta Gammas residing in the Iowa City area are welcomed and encouraged to become advisers on the HCB. The HCB meets four times per year and corresponds primarily via email, so it's a low- maintenance, fun way to "Do Good" and give back to the sisterhood that gave us all so much. HCB members have the privilege and pleasure of helping shape today's collegians into tomorrow's leaders by making a positive impact on their Delta Gamma experience.
