FALL 2019 The Squirrel's Nest P S I C H A P T E R O F A L P H A G A M M A D E L T A A T T H E U N I V E R S I T Y O F A L A B A M A P si Chapter wrapped up the end of the spring 2019 semester on a high note. We achieved the highest overall GPA within the Alabama Panhellenic community with a 3.70 GPA! We had 144 members make the President's List and 147 members make the Dean's List. Our Vice President of Scholarship, Kira Eickman '16, and her directors, Madeleine Bishop '17 and Jessica Stogner '17, have worked tirelessly throughout the year to provide academic enrichment opportunities while educating members on the various academic resources on campus. SUCCESSFUL RECRUITMENT AND SISTERHOOD CELEBRATION After an eventful summer of internships, studying abroad, and trips to visit friends around the country, our members were eager to reunite for the fall 2019 semester! Vice Presidents of Recruitment Emily Anderson '16 and Allie Ramsey '17 led our chapter through an outstanding Recruitment. Polish Week was filled with hard work preparing to welcome potential new members through our doors and fun events such as a pretzel bar, a Pure Barre pop-up class, and a service event packing backpacks with various snacks to donate to schools in the Tuscaloosa area. To top off Polish Week, our scholarship team surprised members with a pool day at Indian Hills Country Club to celebrate top grades! Members enjoyed a relaxing, fun afternoon spending time with one another after a summer apart. Thanks to our Recruitment Chairmen, we walked into recruitment week with high morale, ready to make the best even better! BUILDING GREEK-LETTER CONNECTIONS AT UA As a result of the recruitment team and the entire chapter's hard work, we welcomed 114 new members into our chapter on Bid Day. New Member Educators Katie Green '17 and Kendall Davenport '17 have planned numerous events for the new members to spend time with one another and other member classes. In addition, they had multiple events with new members from other Panhellenic chapters such as a Skating Night with Chi Omega, a lake day with Alpha Chi Omega, and a movie night with Kappa Delta. FIFTH QUARTER PROGRAM FIGHTS HUNGER With the start of a new year also starts another year of the Fifth Quarter program. This is the eighth year of the Fifth Quarter program where our members pair up with Phi Gamma Delta to package the leftover food from all home football games, basketball games, and gymnastic meets. Fifth Quarter Chairmen, Olivia Hannum '18 and Julia Steck '18 broke the Fifth Quarter record salvaging 3,158 pounds of food after the Alabama vs. New Mexico State game! Our Vice President of Philanthropy, Anna Thigpen '16, has planned events to engage our members with our philanthropy of fighting hunger within the campus community and Tuscaloosa community, such as a food drive benefitting the UA Pantry. FALL ACTIVITIES We look forward to the remainder of fall semester events, such as gamedays, initiation ceremonies, and Feast of Roses, to name a few. It has been an honor to serve as Psi's Chapter President over the past year alongside an executive council team of dedicated and strong leaders. Thank you for the love and support! We hope to see alumnae at UA gamedays and encourage you to stop by the chapter house whenever you are in the Tuscaloosa area.
