A-Tau Observer www.ATOnebraska.org 2 W hile the results of the Colorado game were not as hoped, Gamma Thetas had a great time gathering before the game on Friday, October 6, in Denver. Around 50 alumni and guests met at Del Frisco's in the Cherry Creek area for drinks and fellowship. There were both locals and brothers who had traveled from Nebraska and from across the country. Many were from member classes of the early and mid-'70s who meet each year at an away game. The gathering was organized by Dave Bomberger '74. There were lots of tall tales from the "old days" and conversations about the chapter house renovations and how well the chapter is doing today. The Board of Trustees will look into hosting an alumni gathering at an away game next year. Alumni Reconnect in Denver for UNL Football Game F raternity connections formed during your undergraduate days do not end after graduation. This rings true for David L. Bomberger '74, who regularly attends Nebraska football away games with a group of Gamma Theta brothers. "Alpha Tau Omega is a lifetime commitment, and these brothers and I are all lifelong friends," Dave said; he and his brothers made similar road trips for sporting events as undergraduates. This fall, Dave arranged for the group to stay with him in Denver, Colo., the weekend that the Huskers faced Colorado. Between his brotherhood traditions and involvement with the ATΩ Foundation, Dave is passionate about supporting the group that added so much to his life. As a freshman, Dave hoped to expand his group of friends by joining a fraternity. "I was drawn to ATΩ by its basis in Christian values," he said. "Those principles are an important part of who I am and how I interact with others." Dave served as Worthy Chaplain in the chapter and credits the brotherhood with helping him land his first post- graduate insurance job in Omaha, Neb. "A brother's girlfriend's father was the chief investment officer of that company, and they helped make a favorable introduction for me." Dave is now a CIO himself at Pinnacol Assurance in Denver, where he has worked since 2012. Dave has served on the ΑΤΩ Foundation Board of Governors for nearly 20 years and is in his third year as board chair. "I have watched the fraternity evolve into a leader in Greek life around the country," he says. "Many of its programs help prepare undergrads to be successful professionally and personally. It is so important to support and give back to Alpha Tau Omega, as it helped make you who you are." In his free time, Dave enjoys playing golf, reading, and traveling.
