KAPPA DELTA | NORTH DAKOTA STATE UNIVERSITY PAGE 4 I n Kappa Delta, we have five pillars we strive to achieve: academic excellence, leadership, philanthropy, social success and membership. Last semester, we achieved excellence in all these categories while promoting confidence and making an impact on our community. ACADEMIC ACCOLADES We had a successful academic semester ending with the number one grades in Greek life at NDSU! I am very proud of our 0.124 increase since last semester. More than half of our members made the Dean's List and 12 achieved 4.0 GPAs. The annual Julie Landgren Johnson Scholarship was awarded to Alex Pajunen '17, our chapter's secretary. We are so grateful for the opportunities from our chapter that help us thrive in academics. CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS A new Kappa Delta council was appointed at the end of last semester. We have had an exciting time growing into our new roles. Outside of our chapter, members have been working hard to be leaders in the Panhellenic community. Courtney Lock '16 is serving as our new Panhellenic president and Emily Hanford '16 is the vice president of recruitment. New this semester is the Junior Panhellenic Council for new members to be leaders in our community; Abby Riley '18 and Megan Gabel '18 are both serving on this council. New member Tess Schafer '18 also graduated from the Greek Life Leadership Development course led by our own Finnley Maier '13. PHILANTHROPIC ENDEAVORS Shamrock Week was definitely a highlight of our semester, raising $5,700 for the Red River Children's Advocacy Center in Fargo and Prevent Child Abuse America. We introduced new events, including a bean bag toss tournament, cycle class and a Chipotle fundraiser. We also loved working with the Dakota Horizon Girl Scouts, teaching them how to grow up as confident women. We hosted Cookie University and Health and Happiness with the ΚΔ workshops. SUCCESSFUL SPRING SEMESTER We worked very hard within the Greek community last semester. At Greek Awards, we were awarded Outstanding Involvement on Campus, Outstanding Personal Growth and Development and Outstanding Spirit and Unity. Tess Schafer '18 was also awarded Sorority New Member of the Year. I am so proud of all that we have done to help and grow our community. We ended the year with a successful White Rose Formal and elected our new Dagger Man! SISTERHOOD GAINS STRENGTH IN NUMBERS At the end of the semester, we had 23 members transition to Kappa Delta alumnae and start the next chapter of their lives. We will miss them but wish them the best in their future striving to stay honorable, beautiful and highest!
