2 GAMMA THETA GARNERS 43 NEW MEMBERS PIKE Sees Spike in Campus, Community Involvement O ur members have been busy this fall doing everything we can to improve our great chapter. The hard work of Recruitment Chairmen Alex Middleton '17 and Cody Palmer '17 paid off, as they helped bring in 43 quality new members into the Gamma Theta. They planned several summer recruitment events, including two trips to Memphis Redbirds games and a barbecue at the chapter house. All the events good turnouts from the active and prospective members. Gamma Theta Gives Back to the Community Our community service participation has also been great this semester. Early in the semester, we picked up trash along the streets of Starkville during Get Swept Up. We organized a blood drive with the Mississippi Blood Services in our front lot that included donations from several PIKE brothers. Last, but not least, we continued our tradition of helping with Pumpkin Palooza in downtown Starkville. PIKEs Participate in Several Greek Life Philanthropy Events Our members are also active participants in philanthropy events across the Greek community. Select Gamma Theta members spent several hours helping Chi Omega prepare for Limelight, which is a group dance competition benefitting the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Just before fall break, we placed second in Zeta Tau Alpha's philanthropy dodgeball tournament. Gamma Theta aims to win Delta Gamma's Anchor Games this fall after narrowly missing first place and finishing second last year. Active in Intramurals PIKE has proved to be one of the most athletic fraternities on campus with its recent success in intramurals. We won the intramural kickball league in September and our dodgeball and softball teams are undefeated. Gamma Theta also has two 3-on-3 basketball teams going for gold and is getting ready for volleyball season. Fireman's Ball, Football, and Holiday Fun Our annual Fireman's Ball semi-formal took place in October in downtown Starkville. We've had two DJs play at the chapter house after football games this year, and we plan on doing that at least one more time before the season ends. After hosting a fun Halloween-themed date party, we're excited for a Christmas-themed one to round out the fall semester. We're already excited to kick off the spring semester with our formal in January, which will be back in New Orleans.
