JOHN ATENCIO Publisher's Letter NICOLE BROMSTAD Romance & Jewelry Hello, friends! This special romance issue—formerly known as the bridal issue—got me think- ing about my own defi nition of romance and the role jewelry plays in it. You know, those feelings of excitement and mystery that are associated with love and make you feel connected to someone in a deeper way. And a gesture of commit- ment (like an engagement ring or a diamond pendant) that helps elevate relation- ships. For sure, jewelry plays a role in these moves, and you, the store owner, have an important job in helping couples commemorate these occasions. Powerful emotions are present in our everyday lives, but as we move into the holiday season, these feelings are even more heightened and fi lled with anticipa- tion. Why? Because we know gift giving is a part of our traditions, and small boxes from you, the jewelry retailer, are often at the top of many wish lists and are always the most exciting to receive. Although the fourth quarter is one of our busiest times of year, and we experi- ence super long days, we should remember to stay focused on the meaning behind all of the amazing gifts and engagements that you are going to facilitate this season. You have no idea how many people's lives you all will have an impact on. Think about that for a moment and remind yourself what an amazing industry we are a part of; jewelry is a mystery to so many of our customers and will always be associated with romance and love and creating memories. And since love and romance are the DNA of what we do, it's only fi tting that The Jewelry Book dedicate a tome to the topic that serves as the foundation for all of our businesses. Enjoy this issue, chock full of romantic tales and personal expressions of love to inspire you to better celebrate the emotion in store. Here's to a wonderful holiday season and continually creating the best memories for your customers. Where love and romance live, jewelry isn't far behind. All the best, Nicole Bromstad www.melissakayejewelry.com 16 www.thejewelrybook.com
