Volume 119, Fall 2019 A Theta Chi in the Equality State 2 Alpha Mu Welcomes Largest Class 3 2019 Alumni Weekend Recap 3 We Need Your Vote 4 T H E A L P H A M U TO M A H AW K Theta Chi Fraternity at Iowa State University GOLDEN AGE FOR ALPHA MU H ello, brothers! I am thrilled to be welcomed back to Alpha Mu as the new house director I was initiated into the Theta Chi brotherhood in the spring of 2014 Joining Alpha Mu was one of the best decisions I have ever made, which led to many lifelong friendships and memories I will never forget I graduated from Iowa State in 2018 with degrees in economics and statistics, and I am excited to extend a helping hand once again to the young, resolute men of Alpha Mu as they experience the transformative journey of college For me, the journey continues just south of Jack Trice Stadium at the College of Veterinary Medicine Being back at the house in the evenings and supporting active members is a nice break from studying, handling cats and dogs, and dealing with the smell of formaldehyde In this role, I plan to work closely with Patrick Allen '21, our scholarship chairman, to maintain Alpha Mu's status as a top academic fraternity Strong academics help our members stand out from the crowd and are key to landing quality internship and co-op opportunities Holding a high GPA is also essential to recruiting quality young men into our brotherhood In addition to resume reviews and professional development, I would like to educate brothers on scholarship opportunities outside of the $10,000 that Alpha Mu distributes annually While Iowa State is an affordable institution, the cost of college is higher now than it's ever been, making it critical to obtain financial aid through scholarships There are many alumni and friends of Iowa State who make generous contributions through scholarships for students In my previous role as a researcher for the Iowa State University Foundation, I learned all the ways students can tap into financial support to ease their student loan debt I am truly humbled and grateful to be back at 219 Ash Avenue to support the growth of an organization that has given me so much It taught me to be a promoter of knowledge, an advocate of culture, and a builder of character If you would like to visit the chapter house, please feel free to reach out to me in advance Fraternally, Brennan Goodman '18 House Director (641) 751-2559 bgoodman@alumniiastateedu A Letter from New House Director Brennan Goodman '18 In June, John Stalter '69 and his wife, Pam, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary along with 18 Alpha Mu alumni in Marble, Colo. It was a wonderful celebration and reunion. Their next alumni group reunion will be held in 2021 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
