Our new member class is excited on Bid Day. Ready for recruitment. TAU TALES The newsletter for alumnae and friends of Tau Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi at the University of Kansas kualphadeltapi.com Fall 2019 I am a senior majoring in biology with a focus in teaching and a minor in anthropology. I hope to continue my education next year in graduate school studying forensic science. I have had so many amazing experiences serving as the chapter president for Tau. Jessica, Mariel, Kristi, and I recently returned from fabulous Las Vegas, where we attended the 168th Grand Convention. Grand Convention is held every two years and provides a unique opportunity to share exciting news, rich traditions, update our governing documents and continue to educate and strengthen our Alpha Delta Pi bond. Grand Convention was full of amazing traditions. The Adelphean processional opened convention with a parade of chapter flags recognizing each chapter. All of the attendees wore white, from head to toe, and received a simple blue sash with our motto, "We live for each other." I had the privilege of carrying the Tau flag, and it emphasized how distinctive a single- letter chapter is. Another tradition was the singing of the convention song, which highlighted sisters who attended the most conventions. This inspired me to continue my sisterhood after college and return to convention at least one more time. My favorite piece of tradition during this weekend was singing our songs. I attended the song review session, where a small group shared our favorite songs. Emily Erkel, International President, was also in attendance, and it was so special to see the true light and life she has for our sorority and passion for expressing her sisterhood through singing. My favorite song is "I Love the Pin," which was written by our chapter. We have already had some amazing accomplishments at Tau this semester. We currently rank third on the hill for GPA with a 3.45! We are so proud of our scholarship and it continues to be a strengthening pillar in our chapter. Additionally, we welcomed home 78 Alphas during Fall Formal Recruitment! We are so excited to have these women join our chapter and call them our sisters. This semester we are looking forward to Homecoming, social events and making new friendships. We are partnered with Triangle and Sigma Kappa for Homecoming and our chairmen are already hard at work. We have our "The Last Rose" (any Bachelor fans out there?) themed semi-formal and many sisterhood events coming up. Additionally, pride groups are in full swing. Some of our favorites include running, movie watching and ice cream. I have enjoyed my term so much and can't wait to see this chapter continue to grow and thrive. Thank you for all of your dedication and continued hard work! Loyally, Morgan Gray '16 Chapter President taupres@gmail.com From the Chapter President The women had a great comic-themed Bid Day.
