5 Our Vision e Next 130 Years at 1109 Fifth Street S ince its construction in 1927, thousands of women have made the Pi Phi house their collegiate home. It was there that we learned valuable leadership lessons and formed lifelong friendships that we continue to enjoy and draw support from today. Yet, even with careful attention and maintenance, the infrastructure is now 93 years old, and time has taken a toll on our beloved home. Addressing the increasingly frequent issues and needs is becoming financially burdensome. Also, while we are pleased that the chapter's large membership means we are sharing the values of Pi Beta Phi with more young women, there is simply not enough space to accommodate daily needs and use. In 2018, the Minnesota Alpha Chapter House Corporation completed a needs assessment and feasibility study. It was determined that to continue our legacy we must renovate our house to reflect the level of excellence for which Minnesota Alpha is known. e Minnesota Alpha CHC engaged Minneapolis-based firm Shea Design to plan our chapter house renovation. e plan will ensure our home remains timeless, elegant and modern while providing upgraded living space and modern technology to support the academic pursuits of our members. Estimated Project Cost $1.5 Million We Must Create areas that allow for in-house and out-of-house members to meet, socialize, study and eat together. Guarantee Pi Beta Phi remains competitive on campus compared to other fraternity and sorority housing, residence halls and apartment complexes. Ensure our chapter remains strong, viable and grounded in building strong young women for another 130 years. "For the past six years, I've participated with other St. Paul alumnae preparing and serving a meal to the MN Alpha actives during Spirit Week. While I treasure all opportunities to visit the chapter house and the active members, I'm also acutely aware that renovation of the outdated dining, food prep and multipurpose lower level is essential to ensure our chapter house is efficient, current, effective and preserved for the future. Living, dining and studying together is a precious and key part of the sorority experience, and we need to give Minnesota Pi Phis an improved space to do this. I ask that you join me in supporting our beloved sisterhood and chapter house at 1109 5th Street SE." – Kathy Morrisey Porter '76
