Fall 2019 A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE - The Campaign for Indiana Beta W hen we joined the Sigma Alpha Epsilon brotherhood, we made the commitment to uphold the highest standards of friendship, scholarship, leadership, and service throughout our lives. There is no better way to live out that commitment than by contributing to A Tradition of Excellence: The Campaign for Indiana Beta. We are thankful for the 197 donors who have shown their lifelong loyalty to SAE, raising $2,687,355. However, these True Gentlemen only comprise 14% of our alumni base. The average Greek capital campaign sees 25% alumni participation. And we are far from average. Brothers, we cannot do this alone. Your dollars will go to great use to ensure future SAEs and our Lodge will meet the same high standards held by our founding brothers. Below are projects that need immediate attention for SAE to be on a level playing field with other Purdue fraternities. n Construction for additional parking. n Repairing and tuck pointing the bricks of the Lodge. All brick work is from 1922. n Updating and repairing the terracing on the hill on the south side (Quincy Street side of the house). Those three points add up to $500,000 of work. It's time for more guys to get in the game. Our fundraising compared to other fraternities at Purdue is substandard. Mediocrity has never been and never will be something the men of Purdue SAE will accept. As you think back on some of your favorite SAE memories, see the enclosed pledge form and consider making a financial commitment to the capital campaign. Payments can be spread out over the next five years and be made in monthly, semiannual, or annual increments to make your pledge financially feasible. We understand that making a financial commitment is never an easy decision, but every SAE on the list on pages 2-3 will tell you that giving to Indiana Beta is something you won't regret. Whenever you make your next trip to West Lafayette, we want you to visit a Lodge that will make you proud. Your gift to A Tradition of Excellence: The Campaign for Indiana Beta will go a long way toward making this happen. Will you help keep our chapter above average? While the future of Purdue football may be uncertain, Sigma Alpha Epsilon has already seen some great success this year. The brothers had a fantastic time during our alumni weekend, connecting with the alumni who came to visit and enjoying Brother Collin Shaw '20 as grill master. The newly landscaped property made for an inviting welcome, and the extended summer weather made it easy to relax. (Continued on page 5) Trevor Fortune '21, Dawson Skees '21, and Daniel Browning '21 hosted a TG Tuesday table this spring. Indiana Beta will host these semiweekly throughout the fall semester.
