In this short turn around period, we cleaned, shampooed, washed, repaired, replaced, moved, reorganized, and inspected. Many thanks to the amazing women who worked on coordinating all these efforts. In addition, we found time to replace and add upgraded smoke and carbon monoxide detectors throughout the entire house, replace a 1960 electrical panel, add a new refrigerator, blow insulation into the main attic, and replace a defunct HVAC unit. Maintaining and preserving a 100-year-old house while providing a safe and stylish environment for the women living here is a huge challenge. Our hardworking board addresses how to fund future upgrades and renovations. In 2019, we said goodbye to two board members, Jane Rudolph McLaughlin '69 and Mary Manard Heathman '77, who have faithfully served ΔΔΔ for many years. However, good people gravitate to good projects, so we proudly elected our new board at the annual meeting held in May. You can find our complete list of board members to the left. Thanks for all you do for ΔΔΔ and don't forget to stop by the Chapter House when in Columbia! It's hard to believe the executive board and I are more than halfway through our term. The time leading this strong group of women has truly flown by. This semester kicked off with an incredible recruitment, which set the tone for what will be a very busy and productive fall. Dedicated to Philanthropic Work On September 14, members spent the morning volunteering at the Lizzy's Walk of Faith 5K. Lizzy Wampler was a young girl in the Columbia community who lost her battle to osteosarcoma in March of 2018. Our chapter developed a strong bond with Lizzy before her passing and continues to foster a close relationship with her family. The $35,000 in charitable donations from the event were donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which also contributes to why this event is so near to our chapter's heart. We will host two more philanthropy events raising money for St. Jude this semester. Triple Play will take place in October and Sincerely Yours will be in November. Recapping Homecoming 2019 We had a great time at Mizzou's 108th Homecoming with the men of Delta Tau Delta. We participated in House Decs on October 11 (Continued on page 2) Delta Xi promotes anti-hazing by hanging a banner in front of the Chapter House. Other Greek chapters at Mizzou flew similar anti-hazing banners this fall to support the cause.
