We don't think so. If the information above doesn't convince you, the 2010 census showed our year round population has grown from 3,354 to 3,677. If we missed your new or improved business we apologize. Mike and Judy Nacheff Quartzsite Do what is right I'd like to take this time so that our government can take a few minutes and reflect on this country. Look at us common people that live here and that have voted for you. Right now a lot of us are out of work and let me tell you it is not by choice. I am one of them, and let me tell you, I would love to work right now, but where I live, there is little work and I am a single mother of two. I would rather be working than on welfare, but at this point I have no choice. Let me get off my life, which I hate to say, but there are so many other Americans that are in the same boat that I am in. I will say that there are so many of you that have a lot of money and don't need any more. So where does that leave this country. The government is in debt and most of the people that live here are in debt and then you want to take more money from us, when you are setting high on the hog. This country needs a reality check, not just for officials that are in office, but so many of our actors, musicians, and very wealthy. I am not prejudiced to helping people of other countries, but how can so many of you help them when this country has its fair share on the streets and so many more getting ready to fall. I am not saying to just give away your money that you have worked hard for, but I am saying look at us. Look at the ones that watch you on television, the ones that buy your music, and the ones that vote for you. Shouldn't we deserve some respect and help back instead of always being the ones that get hurt? It shouldn't matter if you are Republican or Democrat. We the American people voted for you, so why can't you work together for the American people and do what is right for us and not just for you? Patsy Gresham, Quartzsite Riding fences The concept of riding the fence is a euphemism for remaining non- commital. Have you ever really tried to ride a fence? It's impossible because there is no saddle upon which to sit, only a thin wire offering no stability for integrity. Like the song Desperado says, "You've been out riding fences for too long now...come down from those fences and open the gate." Hygeia Halfmoon, Quartzsite Follow the law Mrs. Golden-Bear, Your editorial blog piece entitled, "How can Quartzsite be- come a better community" missed the mark on several points. The question you raise in your article is valid. Your suggestion as to the cause of the obvi- ous decline in the community quality of life and possible solutions fail to address the problem in an honest and objective manner. Your article begins by suggesting Mayor Ed Foster is the cause of the polarization that grips the community is not valid, nor fair. For the sake of clarity let us point out that the Mayor's only fault is his insistence that the Quartzsite Council and Administration follow the law and produce public documents to the press and public and to hold well publicized public meetings that are conducted at a time and place in a manner that encourages public participation in the governing process of the community. Due to length and space limits, read the rest of Bob Miller's 556 word let- ter at www.QuartzsiteBlog.com under post of "How can Quartz- site become a better community?"
