From the delicate dogwood blooms that inspire this issue, to the explosion of spring colors that force even the hardest to impress to stop and admire the beauty. But Fayetteville residents also know that the citys best asset isnt the plant lifeits the people. Time and again, through crises natural and man-made, Fayettevilles people come to each others aid. This spring Methodist University came to rescue of many of Ft. Braggs soldiers after the suspension of the Military Tuition Assistance (TA) program. The University will make free tuition available to active-duty service members, becoming the first institute of higher education in the country to do so. This initiative demonstrates the sincerity of our commitment to military service members and their families, said Methodist University President Ben Hancock. The immediate halt of tuition benefits caused hardship for many of our students and their access to higher education, and we hope this initiative will assist them during this period. Shortly after the announcement was made, the official Fort Bragg Facebook page posted the news with this statement: Sometimes you wonder if the local community actually supports us because they believe in what we do or because they are just protecting their financial interests. Well, Methodist University showed their true colors and are now offering free classes for active duty Soldiers because tuition assistance has been cut.
