for the frogs. The Ju- niors took fi rst place with their giant can of "wildcat" soup, and the Seniors came in a close sec- ond with their cir- cus-themed fl oat. Dayna Allen and Octavio Martinez were announced homecoming queen and king. After the games had ended it was time for the dance to begin. The dance start- ed off slow, but then picked up rap- idly. When asked about the night, Dayna said, "I had a fun and memo- rable night, being a part of royalty was a very exciting way to start off my senior year." Overall, homecom- ing was a complete success. With their win during homecoming week, Salome has won four out of their fi ve football games this season. They closed out the month of August winning against Fort Thomas with a score of 58-12. Going into Septem- ber they may have lost their Wil- liams game 50-20 but they played hard and did their best. The Frogs made a comeback in their next two games including their victory dur- ing homecoming week and their 40-28 win against Duncan. They plan to keep their winning streak against San Pasqual for their game on September 27th. If you want to come out to show your green spirit, the football team's last home game is against Anthem Prep on October 18th. When asked how they plan to fi nish off this season strong, Coach McCarty said that "our practices will be more vigorous and we will pay more attention to detail." Switching gears to the volleyball season, Salome has won two out of their six games this year. They have nine games left this season and are still playing with confi dence. They have four home games left on 10/2, 10/8, 10/18, and 10/22. With all these regular-season games left, the girls have plenty of time to turn their season around. They've won games against San Pasqual Valley and Mo- have and, hopefully, they can build on those successes to fi nish out the season strong. Read Desert MESSENGER ONLINE @ DesertMessengerOnline.com Stay up to date with sex offenders in area Congress enacted Megan's Law in 1996. It made sex-offender reg- istration information public and created guidelines for community notifi cation. Quartzsite Police Department is- sues notifi cations pursuant to ARS 13-3825, the Community Notifi ca- tion of Sex Offender Law. Notifi ca- tion must be made when certain sex offenders are released from the Arizona State Prison, accepted under an Interstate Compact or released from the county jail back into the community. The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) has established a website according to the require- ments of A.R.S. 13-3827. DPS is responsible for maintaining the site and annually verifying the address- es of all registered sex offenders. The purpose of the Arizona sex offender information website is to provide information to the public concerning the location of sex of- fenders within Arizona. The site is NOT intended to supplant the com- munity notifi cation process, but rather, it allows the criminal justice community to promote public awareness concerning the poten- tial threat that sex offenders pose to Arizona citizens. An informed public is a safer public! Salome High updates The students at Salome High School had a spirit-fi lled homecoming week preparing for the big game on Sep- tember 20th. Each year, the Salome High School Student Council selects "Spirit Days" that all the students are able to participate in. The fi rst Spirit Day of the week was "'Merica Monday." During this spirit day, students were to embrace their in- ner red, white, and blue and show off their pride in the U.S.A.! Mix- ing it up, the next day did not have as much color as 'Merica Monday, as the students were now dressed up for "Blackout Tuesday". Even though the color wasn't very lively, the students were alive with spirit. Following Blackout Tuesday, was "Beach Day Wednesday." Students dressed up just like they were ready for some fun in the sun. This includ- ed pool fl oats, noodles, beach hats, and fl oral leis. The fi nal and most spirited day was "Leap Into School Spirit Thursday." To end the week, students dressed up in all their green and white Salome gear to ex- press their school spirit. On the 20th of September, the big day fi nally arrived and Salome High School had its annual homecom- ing games and dance. The football players took on Mayer and won 60 to 0. The volleyball girls put forth their best effort, but couldn't take the win this time. Each class had to create a fl oat to show their support too much junk?
