5 www.texaspike.com TW: It is a really exciting time for Beta Mu as we saw the house come down this past May and see the early stages of the new construc- tion. e chapter is very grateful to the alumni for making this long-held dream a reality. I think the new house presents a very big oppor- tunity for Pike to keep growing in number and reputation. With the temporary "loss" of the house, it's cru- cial that we keep our guys together and really excited to be a part of this positive change. Our brotherhood, social events and philanthropy will continue, whether it be tailgates for big games such as LSU this season, our always fun trip to Texas-Oklahoma game in Dallas or expanding our charitable work with the Austin Fire Department. I also see rush as an important area that we need to keep improving to attain the best quality guys to join our Pike brotherhood. e lack of house led to a smaller than usual pledge class, but we believe a lot of potential new members next year will see what I did when rushing and want to get involved in the fra- ternity. And the new house will be an add-on benefit to growing our numbers and attracting a new generation of Texas Pikes. 2020 is something we are all very excited about. e new Pike house will be dedicated in our centennial year. We will definitely have a big celebration in March when we turn 100 on Founders' Day and look forward to the grand opening of the new Pike house. I hope to be one of the first occupants in my senior year! BMR: What are your hobbies and outside interests? TW: Playing la- crosse, watching football with friends, going to movies and hanging out with my dog. BMR: Who are the four guests you would invite to a fantasy dinner party? P ike congratulates 19 brothers who earned degrees and join the Pike brotherhood and Texas-Exes in alumni status. Many attended a senior sendoff brunch on May 18 hosted by the Beta Mu Alumni Fund. Most of these graduates pledged in fall 2015 and contributed to the chapter by holding various positions such as president, pledge trainer, swamp master, rush captain, and treasurer. ey have spent the past four years together creating memories that will last a lifetime. e pledge class of 2015 had three members, Connor Pottorff, Parker Morris and Alex Crutchfield, of the prestigious Texas Spurs organization; and two members, Nathan Roberts and Justin Dunlap, were Texas Cowboys. Many graduates are immediately entering the work- force, like Justin Dunlap with Capital One Bank, Jalyn Marick joining Lockheed Martin, and Michael Everett joining Moelis & Company in New York. Several Pikes will continue their studies at graduate school next year. Mitchell Benson will be at UT Law School, Nathan Roberts will start at UT's McGovern School of Medicine in Houston, Joe Velasquez will work toward his master's in healthcare administration at Texas Women's University, and Connor Pottorff, Dean Co- hen and Greyson Blaise will do a fih year and earn McCombs' prestigious master's in public accounting. Pike is particularly proud of Drew Ikard, who is going on to serve our nation in the military. On June 7, 2019, Drew was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps at the State Capitol in Aus- tin. In September, he will leave for e Basic School in Quantico, VA., for six months. Drew was initiated in the fall of 2016 and served Pike as the alumni rela- tions chairman. Aer he finishes training in Virginia, Drew's next step is to take part in the Infantry Officer Course and become an infantry officer.
