OUR NEEDS
O
ur chapter house shows its age and is not considered competitive
housing in the NDSU community. Safety and code requirements along
with increasing demands for updates to a structure that no longer meets the
needs of our members make it clear that we must make a major investment
in our home. Alpha Gamma Delta is opening a new home this fall; Kappa
Alpha Theta has completely renovated its home; and Delta Delta Delta is
scheduled to build a new chapter house next year.
We are responsible for providing a structurally sound and safe
facility for our collegians by upgrading the internal system,
including:
The primary purpose of university housing is to provide an
atmosphere that is conducive to scholastic achievement.
Students need:
Communal space in our home is key to fostering sisterhood. The
chapter requires:
Today's students and their parents have high expectations for
their housing dollars. Amenities offered by residence halls and
off-campus apartments, as well as newly renovated Greek houses,
require us to reevaluate what we offer our housed and unhoused
members.
A fire-safety sprinkler system that meets local code
requirements.
A new electrical system that can accommodate the modern
needs of all computers, printers and other appliances upon
which our members rely.
Multiple areas designated for study that have controlled
access and noise limit requirements.
More functional living and study spaces with adequate
furniture and technology needs.
Room for chapter meetings, executive board and
committee meetings, Monday night dinners, alumnae
and sisterhood events and ritual ceremonies. This will
eliminate the need to rent space on campus.
Dining space and adequate kitchen facilities to serve
meals for the entire chapter.
Our collegians expect a welcoming, comfortable space
to socialize, study, conduct meetings and recruit new
members.
For many years our house was considered one of the
most beautiful on campus and was a powerful factor in
recruitment. Sadly, this is no longer true.
