BBB supports high school students on ethical path Scholars Can Share Their Experi- ence On The Importance of In- tegrity Through BBB Torch Essay Scholarship Lake Havasu City, AZ - September 9, 2019 - In support of Better Busi- ness Bureau's Ethical Torch Essay Scholarship Program, BBB is join- ing efforts with the La Paz County Probation Department to encour- age their high school students to apply. The Ethical Torch Essay pro- gram asks students to write a one- page essay on the subject of "The Importance of Ethics and Integrity in the Community." Students received two educational presentations about BBB's vision of trust encompassing integrity and community involvement. For young students, it can be a turning point to choose an ethical path through life's situations. "We've truly enjoyed this partner- ship with BBB, and feel the students have learned a great deal. While go- ing through our program, students navigate the process of creating a change of thought and this essay fi ts perfectly with that mission," shares Cherre Hooper, Senior Juvenile Pro- bation Offi cer for La Paz County. BBB is offering up to $5,000 in fi - nancial aid to all high school stu- dents in graduating classes 2020- 2023. Students living in Mohave and La Paz Counties are eligible to apply. The deadline to submit essays and applications is Tuesday, October 1 at torchessay.bbbcommunity.org. Got events? During the cleanup on September 22, access to the beach at Steam- boat Cove will be temporarily restricted from 8-11 a.m. as Boy Scouts, Sea Scouts and Ventur- ers work alongside BLM rangers to clean the beach and remove debris from the water. The Scouts will earn their aquatic-based merit badge while making shoreline rec- reation safer and more pleasant for visitors. Steamboat Cove is one of 73 boat- in recreation sites on Lake Havasu managed by the BLM.
