To Our Friends and Neighbors in Siloam Springs, On September 29, 2019, JBU will celebrate its 100th anniversary of providing Christian higher education in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and we are deeply grateful to God for his grace both in sustaining our work and locating us in this city. We have certainly faced challenges in the past, but we have also experienced wonderful and unexpected blessings throughout our history. In particular, the last 25 years have been a time of great encouragement. We have grown from 1,001 students in 1991 to over 2,000 students this fall; we have received gifts of over $300 million; over 90% of our campus is new or completely renovated since 2001; and our endowment has grown from $50 million to over $120 million, primarily in scholarships to support JBU students. However, these facts and figures are only the means to our end which is to educate students to honor God and serve others, and we have remained faithful to that end throughout our history. JBU continues to affirm Christ Over All as its central theological commitment and to instruct the Head, Heart and Hand as its educational mission. We are grateful for the many generations of faculty and staff who have dedicated their lives to carry out that mission. We could not have done it without them. We are also thankful that God placed us in Siloam Springs. We have been blessed by being your neighbors, and we hope that we have been a blessing to you. In particular, I appreciate the many ways that the people and institutions of Siloam Springs have partnered with us to improve the quality of life for JBU students and community members alike. I think of the City Board which helped to extend the community trail onto our campus and build the futsal courts; the Siloam Springs Schools District which hosts our student teachers and is working with us to build a new track and field facility; Simmons Foods which helped us build a banquet facility, Simmons Great Hall, and to renovate the Walton Lifetime Fitness Center, both of which are used extensively by the whole community. Thank you for being our home and being good neighbors. We invite you to join us in celebrating God's faithfulness to JBU during our Centennial Homecoming Weekend. Godspeed, Dr. Charles W.
