Established in 1919 by evangelist Dr. John E. Brown Sr., John Brown University (JBU) was created to combine Christian liberal arts education with an emphasis on specialized vocational training. As JBU celebrates its centennial year it is obvious just how much this renown learning institution has grown from its humble beginnings as a vocational school. Now Arkansas' top-ranked regional university according to U.S. News Best Colleges of 2019, JBU serves over 2,500 students from 50 nations and 41 states. The university offers 41 majors, with top programs including engineering, nursing, family and human services, biology, graphic design and construction management. John Brown University's mission has remained the same, however. And that mission is to provide a Christ- centered education that "prepares people to honor God and serve others by developing their intellectual, spiritual and professional lives." But while JBU is a Christian university committed to providing quality academics within a distinctly Christian community, the university has no denominational affiliation and admits students of any faith. Here is a breakdown of the opportunities JBU offers those seeking an education from a vibrant and growing independent Christian university of the arts, sciences and professions: WHO WE ARE Traditional Undergraduate School Nearly 1,400 students are enrolled in one of 41 traditional undergraduate programs where JBU is committed to providing an academically challenging educational experience. In the last few years, the academic programs at the university have been recognized with research and other grant awards from organizations like NASA, the National Science Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. In addition, JBU has one of the highest graduation rates in the South among Southern Regional Colleges, according to U.S. News and World Report. Graduate School The Graduate School offers master's degrees in professional disciplines through full-time or part- time enrollment. JBU offers graduate programs in the areas of Business, Counseling, Education and Cybersecurity. Classes are offered in Rogers, Little Rock, Siloam Springs and online, depending on the program. Online Studies To address the growing market for online study options, JBU Online allows students with prior college credit to complete their bachelor's degree in organizational leadership, business administration, liberal arts and psychology. The program has student services centers in both Little Rock and Rogers, Arkansas.
