SENIOR Health Fair - September 11, 2019 - 7 479.202.9618 Bella Vista • Bentonville www.BlueWaveHearing.com Dr. Beth Muller Dr. Molly Dillon Dr. Megan Bruce According to a Johns Hopkins study, the potential for cognitive decline increases with greater levels of hear- ing loss. Blue Wave Hearing Centers encourages people as young as 50 to have hearing exams every year. To support this mission, the doctors at Blue Wave Hearing will perform free hearing screenings to the community at the Fall Senior Expo at Riordan Hall. At Blue Wave Hearing Centers, your hearing health is very important to us. Studies have shown that people who treat hearing loss with hearing aids are half as likely to have mental decline or develop dementia. According to the Better Hearing Institute (BHI), hear- ing impairment contributes to the progression of mental impairment in older adults. According to Dr. Beth Muller, Audiologist at Blue Wave Hear- ing, "When hearing impairment goes undetected, it can interrupt the brain's processing of spoken language and sound perception. Hearing loss will also decrease the brain's ability to understand speech, and therefore hinders the recall and memory of those conversations. However, if a patient's hearing issues are diagnosed and treated earlier, their rate of success for both hearing and memory increase substantially." "As the science of hearing loss continues to expand, we are seeing an increase in the number of people who are ready to embrace innovative hearing solutions," says Dr. Beth Muller. "So far, the evidence suggests that enhanced hearing ability helps keep the brain active and engaged, and as more people seek amplification through hearing devices, we end up with a mentally sharper, healthier population as a whole." Blue Wave Hearing Centers are proud to promote better hearing and have been serving Northwest Arkansas for over 20 years. Stop by our table at the Expo, call us at (479) 202-9618 or visit us at www. BlueWaveHearing.com for more information on brain hearing research. Be sure to ask about our trademarked Hearing Aid Test Drive process, which allows patients to wear hearing devices for up to one month with no obligation or deposit. "Free exams allow for earlier detection, and the Free Test Drive allows us to showcase modern technology with no down-side," says Dr. Beth Muller. "The earlier a hearing difficulty is detected and diagnosed, the more effectively we can develop strategies and identify the appropriate technologies for amplification. This allows our patients to reengage with their families and recon- nect with their friends in a life-changing way." Blue Wave Hearing offers free hearing screenings at Senior Expo Dr. Beth Muller
