Even the nearly full moon would say, "Welcome!" with its mid-evening rising, punctuating that unusually cold autumn night. And then there are quieter gatherings. Rocking chairs on a traditional southern front porch provide a cherished place where coffee is shared and God is sought to give wisdom to life's challenges. A farm table made of pine harvested from the property beckons teenage children and even their friends as this family vows to protect the endangered family meal. A Sunday aernoon golf cart ride with grandparents is an opportune time to check the progress of baby longleaf pines on the property's tree farm. Photos and memorabilia, displays of blue and white china and pottery and a framed print of pheasants are among the many items that point to the individual personalities of each family member. A grand piano in the sitting room fills the house with music when anyone will pause to offer a song. The house combines formal and country elements as well as traditional and modern design.
