is wasn't the first historic carriage ride
through downtown Fayetteville for Donna orne-
Burdick. Or the second. Or even the third.
Maybe the fih. Definitely not the last.
"I learn something different every time," she said.
"I like learning about Fayetteville."
e carriage rides are a leisurely and lovely
way to do that. Hosted by Cool Spring Downtown
District and S&S Carriage Rides, the tours are
currently held one Saturday morning each month
and typically last about 45 minutes while traversing
through downtown.
On this July day, in connection with the African
World Peace Festival, the carriage tour was
extended to include St. Joseph's Episcopal Church,
a historic African-American church on Ramsey
Street at Moore Street. e longer tour just meant
that guide Gaby Kienitz had more time to share
tidbits of Fayetteville's history.
