Faye wsa the beloved mother of Larry Taylor (Lois), Cindy Taylor Sass- mann (Stan), ad Debbie Taylor Fines (Gene), Grandmother, Great GRandmother, and Great-Great Grandmother. After living a few years of as winter visitor to Desert Gardens, Faye and her husband Eddie (1924-2008) brought a trailer and took up per- manent residence in 2005. One of Faye's many joys in life at Desert Gardens was her years on the fl oat committee helping Desert Gardnes bring home many awards and tropies. In 2016, ill health forced Faye to give up her home in Desert Gar- dens and move to Mesa, AZ to live with her daughter Debbie until her death. On November 10, all of her friends are welcome to join us in celebrating her life at her great granddaughter's home in Queen Creek, AZ. William (Bill) G Holt 1943-2019 A loving husband, father, grandfa- ther, and great grandfather passed away May13th, 2019 with his family by his side. Bill was born to William & Vera Holt in Hollywood, California on October 14th, 1943. Bill was raised in Lompoc, California with his siblings Kathie and Betty, Bill had three passions in his life: his family and The United States Spe- cial Forces and VFW POST 769, Quartzsite, AZ He married the love of his life Gay- le (Herrick) Holt on December 30th, 1965. They enjoyed 53 years of mar- riage and had two sons: William G. Holt, Jr. and Charles L. Holt. Bill was a Veteran of Vietnam From August 26th1968 – Septem- ber 18th1969 where he was a gun- ship pilot (Wolf Pack 36) with 281st AHC attached to 5th Special Forces. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1972. Bill accomplished a lot in those years: • 7th Special Forces Training Group, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina • Special Forces Medical Training, Ft. Sam Houston, etc. • 7th Special Forces Group. Ft. Bragg, NC • 1st Special Forces. Okinawa, Japan • OCS, Ft Benning, GA • Instructor, Jump School, Tower Week, Ft. Benning, GA • Flight School, Ft Wolters, TX, and Ft Rucker, AL • 281st Assault Helicopter Compa- ny, Viet Nam attached to 5th SFG where he was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and multiple Air Medals • 8th Special Forces Group, Ft. Gu- lick, Panama Canal Zone • Camp Bullis (Ft. Sam Houston), TX At the time of his death he was serv- ing his second term as Commander of VFW Post 769, Quartzsite, Ari- zona. He was also a member of the 281st AHC Association, the Special Forces Association, the DAV, the Purple Heart Association, VHPA, the American Legion and ROA. He is survived by his wife M. Gayle Holt of Quartzsite, AZ, two sons and a daughter-in-law. Charles Holt of Modesto, CA, Bill and Shannon Holt of Fayetteville, NC; four grandchil- dren and their spouses: Dustin and Ashlee Holt, Joey and Sara Holt, Aaron and Nicole Koons, and Lacey and Freddy Prosperi; fi fteen Great Grandchildren: Ariel, Skye, Julie, Elena, Tyreil, Joey, Phenyx, Xavier, Addison, Eithan, Mallory, Gabby, Izzy, Vera, and Killian. Also, a sister and brother-in-law Kathie and Dick Westrope of Temecula, CA, a neph- ew, his spouse and children and a niece, her spouse and children. As well as many Great Friends. He is Preceded in death by his Father, Mother, Sister and two nephews. As Post Commander Bill gave nu- merous speeches/presentations. He ended each with the following quo- tation by Susan Stephens, Region 2 Coordinator, National League of POW/MIA Families: "Dying for freedom isn't the worst that can happen, being forgotten is." Rest in Peace in Valhalla, in the knowledge that you are loved and will NOT BE FORGOTTEN. • A general luncheon on Thursday, August 22. The annual luncheon featured: • Address from Arizona Governor Doug Ducey • Address from US Senator for Ari- zona Kyrsten Sinema • More than 25 educational ses- sions on topics ranging from funda- mentals of local government such as council-manager relations and leg- islative issues, to sessions on water, recycling, economic development, Census 2020, public universities and short-term rentals. • For a full list of sessions and other conference events, visit: http:// www.leagueaz.org/e/19ac/19ac_ digital.pdf In addition to the many education- al sessions and networking events at the conference, mayors and council- members from across the state met during the event to develop resolu- tions for the League's Municipal Policy Statement. The policy state- ment represents the collective in- terests of cities and towns statewide and will guide the League of Arizona Cities and Town's lobbying efforts during the upcoming legislative ses- sion that begins in January 2020. Next year's League conference will be held in Glendale, August 31 – September 3, 2020.
