A few years ago a mobile home on Washington Ave. burned and there was a big mess left and was not cleaned up. There were also many old rough looking RVs on the prop- erty. I was wondering if the nmess was ever going to be cleaned up. I went on vacation in July and when I returned, I noticed that the lot had been cleaned and the RVs were all lined up by the fence facing south. Then a few days later, the RVs were being towed or hauled away. Boy, what a difference! That lot looks great and I want to thank the person or person responsible for making Quartzsite look a whole lot better. That is not the end of my story. There is another lot a little north of the aforementioned property that is also being cleaned up. Washington Ave. now looks so much better. Thanks again. Several of them will be in La Paz County. They are scheduled to start in the fall of 2019 be fi nished by the spring and summer of 2020. ADOT allocated $36 million for multiple pavement preservation projects on highways across the state during FY 2019-20. The goal of these projects is preven- tive maintenance. ADOT evaluated ex- isting pavement conditions to identify locations in each of its seven districts that are currently in good condition. The goal is to undertake preventa- tive-maintenance projects in those locations now so roadways remain in good condition. Making repairs after the roadway has deteriorated will be much more costly. Investing in pre- ventative-maintenance projects is part of ADOT's Long Range Trans- portation Plan goal of maintaining, preserving and extending the service life of existing the state's transporta- tion system infrastructure. The projects are a mix of fog seals, crack seals and other actions which protect and extend pavement life. The current slate of 86 projects, which cover 4,160 lane miles, is scheduled to be under contract or completed before June 30, 2020. Expect to see crews at work in dif- ferent parts of the state during dif- ferent times of the year based on outside air temperatures and other weather conditions. Generally, work is scheduled to begin in fall 2019 and continue in spring and sum- mer 2020. ADOT will provide more specifi c information about project schedules and potential impacts as it becomes available. Here are the projects currently planned for La Paz County. Exact dates will be announced later. The projects are subject to change.
