LINCOLN — A long-run- ning television game show challenges contestants to accurately determine the cost of living while an Okla- homa teenager wants the LRC royalty committee to know Price is right. R i g h t to b e c row n e d royalty, that is. Arianna Price, 15, is a c a n d i d a te fo r t h e 20 19 Lincoln Riding Club junior queen. An experienced rider, Arianna has been riding horses since she was big enough to sit in the saddle. Arianna has had the privilege of owning several horses but her main mounts are Captain, Tequila, and Tater. Arianna has won many awards such as tack sets, saddle pads, buckles and her favorite which is a saddle she won for all around in 2017. Arianna competes in barrels, poles, flags, and rides with the Arkansas Fillies Drill team. Arianna is the daughter of Tommy and Kerrie Price, of West Siloam Springs, Okla. Arianna is in the 10th grade at Kansas (Okla.) High School and wants to become a radiology tech- nician when she graduates. Arianna enjoys spend- ing time with family and friends. Rodeo has always been a huge part of Arian- na's life. Arianna would l ove to b e Ju n i o r M i ss Lincoln Riding Club so that she may inspire young girls to build and expand their knowledge of the sport of rodeo. "I want others to look at my success and believe they can achieve anything they set their minds to," Arianna said. L I N C O L N — S ava n n a h Perkins wasn't born in the saddle, well almost, she has been riding since before she could hold her head up. Her love of rodeo can be attributed to her parents, Charlie and Christy Perkins, of Farmington, who practi- cally raised her on horseback. Yet, Savannah's heritage goes way back beyond that, some- thing which stacks up in her favor as a candidate for 2019 Lincoln Riding Club junior queen. Rodeo is a huge part of Savannah's life. Savannah's papa, Woody Porter, thrilled audiences as a legendary performer, working as a rodeo clown for many years. Savannah has competed in rodeos since she was five years old and was also a trick rider for the Arkansas Fillies Drill Team. All this and the cowgirl is only 12 years old in the sixth grade at Farming- ton's Randall Lynch Middle School. S a v a n n a h ' s h o r s e i s named Rowdy which she will be using in the compe- tition. Savannah competes in Little Britches Rodeos, Ozark Junior Regional Rodeo Association (OJRRA), North- west Arkansas Riding Club (NWARC) playdays, Cinch Timed Event Championship (CTEC) rodeos and National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) events. Savannah has won many buckles, saddles, and various other awards. Savannah loves softball, cheerleading, modeling, and kayaking. Savannah received the citizenship award this year at her school and was the Little Miss Clothesline Fair. Savannah is currently Junior Miss Clothesline Fair. Savannah also received MVP at two softball tournaments this year. "I want to be Junior Miss Lincoln Riding Club to have an opportunity to help teach kids my age about the sport of rodeo and why it is so important to me," Savannah said. "I feel I could contrib- ute knowledge of the sport and the wonderful memo- ries I cherish at the Lincoln rodeo and playdays." Competition is interwo- ven throughout the 66th annual Lincoln Rodeo and the winner will be selected during the final performance of the rodeo which begins at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10. LINCOLN — In true cowgirl style, Shania Downing made a public profession of her faith and was baptized in the White River at the age of 10. She believed and accepted that all of her entry fees needful to attain eternal life have been paid. Now, Shania needn't worry about not measuring up. The 13-year- old cowgirl has been well taken care of. Perhaps, taking a page out of Esther's book, Shania seeks to obtain favor in the sight of all who look upon her, according to Esther 2:15 (KJV), presenting herself before the judges as a candi- date for 2019 Lincoln Riding Club junior queen. Shania's happy place has always been on the back of a horse, so running the queen pattern just seems natural to her. Shania wants to become Junior Miss Lincoln Riding Club to help promote rodeo. Shania is concerned that rodeo may become a dying sport without proactive promotion on the part of cowboys and cowgirls. "To keep it alive we must teach younger generations how important this heri- tage is, and have amazing role models for this sport," Shania said. Shania, now 13, is the daughter of Shane and Ange- lina Downing, of Farmington. Shania is in the seventh grade at Farmington Junior High School and wants to become a chef when she graduates. Shania has been riding horses since she could walk. Shania has two great horses named Stormy and Ace. Shania is part of the Arkan- sas Fillies Drill Team and loves competing in barrels, poles and flags, in which she has won numerous ribbons and buckles. Shania ran for Little Miss Huntsville, Arkansas, when she was 8-years-old and placed first runner up. Shania has many things s h e l ove s to d o wh i c h includes reading, playing basketball, volleyball, and spending time with her corgis, Chloe and Rooster. Shania is an active member of the Cowboy Corner Post Church at Siloam Springs. Shania has received numer- ous certif icates for the National Honor Society. "Rodeo has helped me in becoming a very supportive person and has inspired me to keep active goals and try hard every day for my goals and dreams," Shania said.
