Rutherford Weekly BILL HEMBREE Bill Hembree, age 77, of Forest City, NC, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013. Bill was born November 23, 1935 in Fulton County, Georgia to the late Edgar Austin Hembree, Sr. and Maudie Lucille Price Hembree. He was a veteran, have served in the US Marine Corps. He owned and operated the Hair Palace in Henrietta and was a barber for over 58 years. He attended Piney Mountain Baptist Church and enjoyed all facets of yard work and especially enjoyed working with flowers. He also served as a past member of the Rutherford County Honor Guard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Phillip Lamar Hembree. Survivors include three daughters, Jackie Esther Stonica and husband, Scott of Griffin, GA, Deborah Lucretia Medina of Louisville, KY and Chrys Myra Mouser and husband, Andrew of Peachtree City, GA; three brothers, Lee Davis Hembree of Atlanta, Wilson Henry Hembree of Tucson, AZ and Ronnie Doyle Hembree of Jackson, GA. He is also survived by his significant other and beloved friend, Kim Parker of Ellenboro; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Wilson Hembree and Reverend Terry Padgett officiating. Entombment will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. JOHN DANIEL SPICER John Daniel Spicer, age 60, of Forest City, NC, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013. www.rutherfordweekly.com 828-248-1408 John was born July 19, 1952 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Gillie W. Spicer and Hattie Lou Buff Spicer. He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1971 and worked in the textile industry for several years. John was a longtime member of Riverside Baptist Church and loved his family dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Abraham Spicer, Bobby Spicer, George Spicer and one nephew, Kenneth Porter. Survivors include five sisters, Louise Dedmon of Forest City, Irene Hall and husband, Joe of Forest City, Janie Fleischer and husband, Dale of Youngstown, Ohio, Judy Tessnear of Forest City and Julia Lewis of Caroleen; one brother, Ronnie Spicer of Forest City. He is also survived by five nieces and nine nephews. Funeral services were conducted at Riverside Baptist Church with Reverend Ted Blankenship officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. CHARLES "CHUCK" MOORE C h a r l e s " C h u c k " Moore, age 66, of Forest City, NC, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013. Charles was born August 19, 1946 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Paul Everson Moore and Pauline Burnette Moore who resident of Forest City. Charles was a veteran of the US Navy and served during the Vietnam War on the USS Maddox. He worked in commercial construction for BevinHerron as a carpenter of many years and was a truck driver for Mastercraft and Thieman Metal Manufacturing. He was a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He enjoyed bowling and coaching little league baseball. He especially loved spend- ly. y ing time with his family. In addition to his his eded father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie Moore and one sister, Glenda Faye Moore. Besides his mother, survivors include his wife of 48 years, Christina Moore; one son, Chuckie Moore, Jr. of Apple Valley, CA; two daughters, Kathy Moore and Diane Bumgarner both of Forest City; two sisters, Vickie Gregory and husband, Bobby of Rutherfordton and Terri Roberson and husband, James of Forest City; one brother, Wayne Moore of Forest City. He is also survived by four grandsons, Matthew Moore, Mikey Moore, Tommy Bumgarner and Nathan Moore; two granddaughters, Paige Hoon and Emily Moore; one great grandson, Harrison Hoon and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Reverend Bob Philbeck officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. Memorial donations are suggested to the Mt. VIRGINIA DARE ALDRIDGE SHIRES Virginia Dare Aldridge Shires, 89, of Forest City, a resident of White Oak Manor, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 05, 2013. A native of Rutherford County, she was born on April 21, 1923, a daughter of the late Orville Taylor and Lela Mattie Morrow Aldridge. She was a homemaker and member of Sandy Mush Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Warren Walter Shires. She is survived by her sons, Jerry Shires and wife Joyce of Rutherfordton, Gene Alvin Shires and wife Helen of Mooresboro and Alfred Shires and wife Christy of Forest City; one sister, Lois Aldridge Smith of Forest City; six grandchild randc ldren d ve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. TOM JUNIOR JONES Tom Junior Jones, age 63, of Bostic, NC, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013. Tom was born October 25, 1949 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Thomas Austin Jones and Mary Bell Tipton Jones McAlister. He was a veteran of the US Army and worked for Doblin Carolina in Morganton for several years. He was also a past member of the Hudlow Volunteer Fire Department and served in the Rutherford County Traffic Control. He attended Ross Hill Baptist Church. Tom especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jeff Jones, one brother, James Leonard "J.J."Jones, one sister, Susie Gunter and a granddaughter, Natalie Faith Mashburn. Survivors include one son, Brad Stephen Jones of Cliffside; three daughters, Sherrie Toney and husband, John of Bostic, Hope Earley and Brandy Jones both of Mooresboro; one brother, Bobby Austin Jones of Forest City; two sisters, Barbara Higgins and husband, Doug of Conover, NC and Theresa Gail Jones Holland and husband, Allen of Forest City. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for the family of Mr. Jones. MARY ANN STEYER GREENE Mary Ann Steyer Greene, 81, of Ellenboro, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013. A native of Garrett County Maryland, she was born on October 23, 1931 to the late Ervin Steyer and Edna Manks Steyer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willford Lee "Jack" Greene; one brother, Don Steyer; and one sister, Lois Nogle. She was a seamstress and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Ellenboro where she was a former nursery worker. Ms. Greene is survived by her son, Steve Greene and wife Sandra of Ellenboro; by two grandchildren, Christopher Greene and wife Ashley of Ellenboro, and Allyson Greene of Ellenboro, and two great granddaughters, Maddie Greene and Izabella Greene. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral Home is serving the family of Ms. Greene. JOYCE JUSTICE MCCLUNEY Joyce Justice McCluney, 64, of Rutherfordton, passed away March 6th, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Joe Justice and Katherine Edwards Justice. She was a native of Rutherford County and a member of Spencer Baptist Church, a graduate of R.S. Central High School and U.N.C. Chapel Hill. Joyce was also a former member and past president of the Rutherfordton Lions Club and a former employee of Rutherford County Schools. She is survived by her husband Dr. Roger McCluney of Rutherfordton and sons Justin McCluney of Spindale and Jeremiah McCluney of Rutherfordton, one daughter-in-law Alice McCluney, one granddaughter Miah McCluney and one sister Rachael Goodgame of Mathews N.C. The family received friends at Spencer Baptist Church, Spindale, followed by the Memorial Service. Rev. Bruce Caldwell and Rev. Billy Vaughn Officiated.
