Hey kids, it's August already. Did you think the summer flew by? Isn't it exciting getting ready for another school year? You get to see all your old friends and catch up; and you have the chance to make new friends. Check out the golden rule on page 8 and keep it in mind for those new kids around you. Be the first one to say hello to someone new at school. Have a smile ready because that's the best way to make someone feel comfortable when they are in a new place. I know you're going to be an awesome new friend. The start of another school year gave us at Official Kids Mag a reason to focus on kindness and bullying as a theme for August. Be sure to spend some time on pages 14 and 15 to understand how you can help stop bullying. Also the Gravette Public Library helped came up with a great book list for you to read about bullying and kindness. These are good resources for you to give to friends and can help make a difference. The Bentonville Bike Parade happened and Official Kids Mag was there to take photos. Let us know if you or someone you know show up in the photos from the Bike Parade. For Green Kids and just in time for school, we found a handy program for recycling markers. ANY MARKERS. You'll find that on page 18. Isn't that a great way to help keep the earth green and focus on recycling to save resources? Kids in the Kitchen cooked up a feast with Chef Brigham Cook at The Jones Center. Find out what they made. National Aviation Day is August 19 so we found some great ways to celebrate National Aviation Day. And check out page 46 to learn about the Young Eagles program; a local group of Girl Scouts is participating and you can too! And for kids and their pets, meet Marko and find out why he is so special to his family.
