P��� 8 ���.D�����M��������.��� J��� 2, 2010 CAREER WEEK AT LITTLE SCHOLARS’ Quartzsite - Little Scholars’ Academy Pre- school had many visitors the week of May 17, 2010. Local business owners, the police and fire departments stopped by and talk- ed with the children, sharing about what they do in their work. Desert Messenger publisher, Shanana “Rain” Golden-Bear gave the little ones copies of the Desert Messenger to take home with recipies and puzzles. It was a fun week for the kids and local presenters. Kids are out of school. Drive safely! QUARTZSITE ART GUILD NEWS QUARTZSITE- At the May 6 meeting Nancy Burrows gave us a super demonstration of her acrylic painting techniques. She painted twin peaks from the Brenda area. We had 10 members at our meeting. She did a great job!! May 20 meeting we had a treasury report. We voted to donate $200.00 to Quartzsite Senior Center in appreciation of their facil- ities. For our next meeting in June on the 4th bring anything you want to paint on and or what you need to have critiqued. Mark Goldberg will be showing his paint- ings at Horizon Community Bank from June 15 to July 15, Drop by and see his work. Carol Brainerd 928-927-7344 SENIOR CENTER HAPPENINGS There’s changes in the makin’ at the kichen! The Senior Center hopes to have the kitch- en remodel completed by June 7th. Fridays at 10 am, we will be providing space for sewing, crafts and whatever your hobby is. We have donated material to make quilts for the children’s library and the crisis center, also cool collars for the troops. We will be doing this all summer so get out of the heat and join us on Friday mornings at the Quartzsite Senior Center. Join us for lunch Monday through Friday at noon sharp. Suggested donation of $2. Reserve your space by signing in the day before. Stop by and spent some time in the cool air, we have daily WiFi, cards and numer- ous games available so get your group to- gether and come on down. Coffee, tea and water is ready at all time. The Junky Junction Yard Sale will happen every other month. The next Junky Junc- tion will take place on Friday and Saturday, June 4-5 7am to 1 pm. Then on August 6-7 7am to 1 pm there will be more opportuni- ties for sales. Painting rocks leading up to Rockin’ in Quartzsite will take place every Monday morning 9-11. We also need volunteers to help with dishwashing, sweeping, cleaning, and serv- ing. We will be open all summer, so stop in for some fun times!
