I have been so busy trying to catch up to myself, but I wanted to take this op- portunity to tell everyone thank you for everything they have done for us; especially in the past several months we were back and forth to hospitals and doctor's appointments. The past two years have actually been ones where Paul was unable to hardly be in the store at all. He was sicker than we ever knew, and now he is no longer in pain. Paul loved this town and the people in it and asked me to convey his heart- felt thanks for all the cards and let- ters, along with calls wishing him well. It really brightened his days, especially in the hospital and re- hab when he was alone a lot of the time, while I kept the store going. So many friends helped us out over this illness; from the bottom of our hearts we thank you! A special thanks to everyone who donated funds to help us out and to Lois Dupre for setting up the fund- raiser. It paid for Paul's cremation and also went to help the store stay open. Special thanks to Rain and the Messenger for keeping updates and social media information available and for helping with the fundraiser. A huge thank you to Paul's band members Steve Hostadt, Mitch Swatez, Gary Rhinevault, and Bud- dy Apfel for doing all they could to help with fundraiser concert- Also Nick Waite and Rock'T Band for their generous time to play at the benefi ts and events. Paul especially wanted me to thank the special person who paid for and donated the keyboard that was de- livered to the hospital in Phoenix – you brought tears of joy to him when he needed it the most and it really perked him up. It was such a wonderful gift! I am still getting calls and cards from people who are just fi nding out about his death, and it makes me feel really blessed to have so many friends. And even those I don't know who have helped me get through this whole thing. And I couldn't thank you all enough for the kind words and hugs. He will be very much missed for a long, long time to come. We are planning a celebration of his life at the Quartzsite Improve- ment Assoc. (QIA) on Sunday, November 24th at 1pm. Any- one who wishes to play or speak can contact me at the bookstore at 928-927-6551. We are getting a program together to make it very special. There will be copies of the new CD of Paul's last concert from February at the QIA available there and also at the bookstore. This was put together by Steve Hohstadt as a benefi t also. Please accept my deepest thanks for making this whole ordeal a little easier by just being there for me as well. I could not have handled it alone and am very grateful for all the love and support for both of us. Joanne Winer Quartzsite THANK YOU FROM FOOD BANK Thank you to the Community Bible Church, Covenant Lutheran Church and private donors for continuing to support us during the summer with donations. Many of the food bank donors have left until next fall but we still have almost 400 clients and their families in need of a little help that we give TFAP boxes to once a month. That does not include the donated product we pass out weekly. Many of our food bank clients live on social security, disability or low wages. Supplying them with some vegetables, eggs, bread and other staples helps them get from pay check to pay check. It helps them go to the grocery store and buy pork chops instead of hot dogs, fresh vegetables instead of canned. Sometimes they are trying to decide between medical care, pay the bills or food for themselves or their chil- dren. Last month we supplied food to: 292 people over 60 years old, 86 children under 18 58 were veterans 100 were disabled To donate to the Friends of the Quartzsite Food Bank go to Quartz- siteFoodBank.com Or mail donations to: FQFB PO Box 4051 Quartzsite, AZ 85359 Or stop by the food bank on 40 N Moon Mountain Ave. Tuesday & Thursday 8-Noon.
