SIGMA PHI EPSILON 7 Alpha Artery Oklahoma Alpha undergraduates win Varsity Revue alongside Chi Omega. I n February, 12 men and two advisors attended the Carlson Leadership Academy in Dallas, Texas. Carlson is a weekend training session for new elected officers and an opportunity for the national fraternity to recognize outstanding men and chapters with awards. Oklahoma Alpha walked away with six awards, more than any other chapter in the region. Our two advisors, Todd Donavan '86, AVC president, and Aaron Cromer '16, chapter counselor, also attended to help facilitate training. In all the other regions, no chapter came close to winning six awards. The first award, Chapter Home of the Year, is attributed to our great alumni who worked on and donated to building the new chapter house. As alumni, you can be proud of the new facility the young men are now living in. The AVC won a second award for Operational Excellence for reinvigorating our AVC and creating new opportunities to engage members. The chapter won an Excelsior Award for Volunteer Engagement due to a substantial increase in the number of chapter volunteers. If anyone is interested in joining our group, Aaron Cromer '16 is working on a mentor board who will advise various officers monthly. Our new chapter president Dylan Harden '20, received the high honor of the Frank J. Ruck Leadership Award. Dylan won this award for outstanding chapter leadership, high academic performance, and campus level leadership. Blake Giles '19, our chapter president for the fall 2017 and spring 2018 semester, won the Zollinger Outstanding Senior Award. This is the fourth time our chapter has won this award, and apparently it wasn't even a close contest. When visiting with our District Governor who selects the winner, he told Todd and Aaron that, "Once I looked at Blake's application, I didn't need to look any further." Finally, the chapter won the Donald C. McCleary Excellence in Membership Development Award. This award is given to the chapter with the overall best membership development program. Congratulations, men, on a job well done! On a campus level…WE WON VARSITY REVUE! Varsity Revue was held the week of February 18 and SigEp competed with Chi Omega. On Saturday, February 23, a team of SigEps and Chi Os enjoyed a clean sweep of the awards. The group won best vocals, best choreography, best male vocalist (Cardin Hart '19), best female lead, and most importantly, first place! In the last four years, SigEp has taken first place at Varsity Revue in 2019, Spring Sing in 2017, and Freshman Follies in 2015. We can be proud our men are recognized as a strong competitor in all the shows! Oklahoma Alpha Continues Its Winning Ways! Chapter Wins Varsity Revue and Chapter Home of the Year
