Alpha lambda Logos Lambda Chi aLpha • OregOn State UniverSity • Spring 2019 T ake a moment to reflect on how many lives the Alpha Lambda Chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha has affected over the years. Over the past 100 years, the men who passed through the front doors of our chapter houses on Monroe have gone on to do great things for their families and communities. As undergraduate members, we learned the values of respect, friendship, leadership, and what it means to be part of a Lifetime of True Brotherhood. Our chapter houses have served as a place that we all came together to utilize and further expand on those traits and skills. Our focus as Alpha Lambda alumni is building a new chapter house that will meet the needs of our undergraduate membership for decades to come. We ask that every brother consider helping to make this goal a reality. We are so truly thankful for the 84 alumni and friends who have already helped us raise more than $900,000 toward our immediate goal of $1 million. Increasing the number of brothers joining in this effort will help us to reach this immediate goal as soon as possible. If you have yet to donate, now is the time! Please help us to double the number of alumni brothers committed to this effort. And remember, gis can be spread out over a five-year period. is is an opportunity that many brothers have taken advantage of. Utilizing this option, five- year campaign pledges of $1,000, $2,500, $5,000, $10,000 or $25,000 would result in annual gis of $200, $500, $1,000, $2,000, or $5,000, respectively— potentially fitting much easier into your annual budget. Regardless of the size of your gi, having you participate is what is needed most, is greatly appreciated, and will make a difference! You can set up your pledge online at tinyurl.com/ LCA2ndCentury and payments will be deducted from your account according to your timeframe. It's easier than ever before! If you are among those who have donated, we want to thank you. Without your support, we wouldn't be where we are today. But today, we're asking for your help once again. Please consider contacting a brother to encourage their support of the campaign. Each, and every dollar to the campaign helps! We are so grateful for our Lambda Chi Alpha membership and hope you will join us in securing the future of Alpha Lambda with a financial pledge to: Building for Our Second Century… e Campaign for Alpha Lambda. A home away from home was something that Jack struggled to find in college, but aer making a coast-to-coast move between his sophomore and junior years, his quest was complete when he arrived at the Lambda Chi Alpha chapter house at Oregon State University. "When I drove out to Corvallis, I remembered thinking at the time, 'Today, I know no one and tomorrow I'll be establishing a whole new group of friends.' at's exactly what happened," Jack said. "I spent my junior and senior years at Oregon State. Although I had a lot of great experiences, my biggest regret was that I didn't spend all four years at Oregon State." Jack began college at Oklahoma City University before transferring to Florida Southern College during his sophomore year. He figured that Lakeland, Florida, would feel like paradise, but his short stay there turned out to be the furthest thing from it. e winter of 1957 was the city's coldest winter in nearly 50 years.
