May 15, 2019 www.DesertMessenger.com 11 The Salvation Army happenings WOW!!! What an amazing Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) event we participated in on May 1st. With wonderful support from customers and volunteers, we presented to Quartzsite Police Chief Ponce, Corporal Tanakeyowma and Sergeant Gray, $4500.00 in crisp $100 bills, as our donation towards LETR for Special Olympics. We had an eleven-person team that ran, walked and biked the shortened course. Way to go Salva- tion Army team members, Carole, Colleen, Eileen, Jan, Karen, Lee-Ann, Mary, Nancy, Neal, Steve, and Sylvia. (PHOTO left) Thanks to the VFW Post 769 for a rewarding breakfast, too, that we all so enjoyed. Looking for a wonderful and FREE program? Arizona's Children Association. Did you know that "The Salvation Army (TSA) has successfully rendered service in America since 1880 by maintaining conservative fi nancial policies, enabling us to meet human needs without discrimina- tion? DOING THE MOST GOOD by reaching out to those in need in our community is the highest goal. Our pledge is to maintain the highest standards of fi nancial accountability to continue to deserve your trust." I invite all to come and see us and learn what we do for our community. Remember we are a thrift store and a service center, too. We have a hospital bed if you are need. Still have those 70+ drinking glasses-10 cents each! Also, I know there is someone looking for wooden chairs… we have them in the box and almost give-away priced. LOL Yeah! We have eight Quartzsite kids going to Salvation Army Discovery Camp with all expenses paid by our Red Kettle Campaign Drive. Don't let people change the loving and caring person you are. Don't let anyone get you down. Use the love and goodness inside you to stay strong. Be kind, be thoughtful, be genuine. Be happy.
