Owner Joshua Choi says drinking tea is an excellent way to perk up your energy levels in the aernoon. Even if the tea contains caffeine, it will have a different effect than coffee, he said. For one thing, he said, a strong cup of black tea has only about a third of the caffeine of a cup of coffee. e caffeine in tea also enters the system in a different way than coffee. Coffee delivers a sudden spike of energy and then you crash. Choi said the caffeine in tea is delivered more evenly and over a period of time. "So you're not jittery and there's no crash," he said. In addition, he said, green and black teas contain antioxidants and an amino acid called l-theanine, which is believed to help improve mental focus even as it relaxes the mind, although without causing drowsiness.
