"Small- er pendants for layering and clustering together are really in," he observes. In colored stones, expect to still see opals, aquamarines, and beryl as well as gems that are purple, mint green, and seafoam blue. Also still trending: neutral hues, like those found in gray spinel, champagne-color diamonds, and agates. Paired with the yellow gold that is so in demand now, warm, beautiful tones and super-chic vibes are sure to follow. "A lot of the stores I work with are all in the mood for something new," adds Guttery. The designer set is determined to make these choices diffi cult. Assael, which exhibits at Couture, will have expanded offerings of the pearls and colored stones it unveiled last year as well as more rarities from J. Hunter Pearls Fiji (Assael is the U.S. distributor). Debra Navarro of the eponymous fi rm will be at Premier with natu- ral-color brown diamonds as well as colorful gems like garnet. A per- centage of proceeds from some inventory will benefi t the nonprofi t Gem Legacy (see Giving Back on page 82). Also not to be missed: layering styles with interchangeable bales. For Lori Gadola of Kelim Jewelry and the soon-to-be-debuting Joyla line at JCK Las Vegas (May 31 to June 3), long earrings and necklaces will be available in silver for the former line and gemstones for the lat- ter. While Kelim features timeless silhouettes, Joyla styles will appeal to color enthusiasts and crowds that crave positivity. "The Joyla name is a combination of the words 'joy' and 'laughter,'" she notes. Trade Secrets Stuller, meanwhile, will be armed with more of the products that dis- creetly enhance businesses. These include new MatrixGold software that gives users the best features of Rhino combined with the blank slate functionality of Matrix. "Our custom work and CAD-CAM jobs have exploded," observes Ashley Brown, executive director of marketing and public relations. Additions to private-label jewelry and commitment lines 302 and Ever&Ever will continue to make jewelers' inventories look robust at a minimal investment, while a retooled wedding band assortment will better organize merchants' options. And don't be worried about fi nding the manufacturing behemoth in the new JCK Las Vegas fl oor plan—it will have two locations. A small booth will be downstairs near toolmakers like Otto Frei, with a massive one upstairs in a prime location. "We'll be across from the Plumb Club and by the food courts," says Brown.
