THE ZETA CHI PIKELINE 3 T he past semester, the Zeta Chi achieved one of the highest GPAs it has ever ac- complished with a 3.19. is GPA tied for second place out of all fraternities and was 0.02 above the FSL average. We also completed 2,498 hours of community service, which broke the school record for number of service hours in one semester. Zeta Chi recorded $1,000 to philanthropy and held seven educational events on various topics to help teach chapter members about issues occurring in college environments. New positions were made within the chapter and many of the new members are already involved and excited to begin learning the reigns of chap- ter operations. Membership Enrichment and Experience A major concern in all of IFC culture is mental health. is past semester, mental health has become a major issue in not only fraternity life but college life as a whole. Due to this, Zeta Chi created the Mental Health Chairman position. Past Chapter President Ethan Johnson '16 was elected due to his understanding and ability to discuss important matters with brothers. e Mental Health Chairman provides information for resources on campus about mental health, guidance on how to relieve mental issues, and support for those going through hard times. rough this position, many brothers have been able to express their feelings and hardships and have become healthier mentally. Another po- sition in the process of creation is the Pike Fit Club Chairman. Not only do we encourage our members to stay mentally healthy, we also en- courage them to be physically healthy. e Fit Club Chairman provides workout regimens, nu- tritional advice, and technique tips to help Zeta Chis become more physically fit. Campus Competitions Intramurals had an incredible performance last semester, placing first in multiple sports. e outdoor soccer team placed first for the second year in a row. IFC hosted an intramural wrestling tournament and Logan Beushausen '16 won championship, earning Zeta Chi a first-place fin- ish. e bowling team led by Cole Phillips '17 went undefeated, dominating their opponents. is semester, intramurals are off to a roaring start with both the futsal and basketball team having championships in their sights. Not only has Zeta Chi been dominating in intra- murals, we also won Homecoming this past se- mester! Homecoming Chairman Andrew Puett- mann '16 helped the chapter bring home first place with an incredible float and top place finish in Yell Like Hell. Stepping into Leadership Positions Zeta Chi reached 100% involvement on campus this past semester! Every member has dedicated some time each week to bettering the Missouri State community. Zeta Chi prides itself on not only being involved but staying involved. We plan to continue to have 100% involvement for the academic year. Looking to the Future We take great pride in all of our accomplish- ments this past semester and strive to become better each day. e men of Zeta Chi are work- ing tirelessly to hopefully bring home a Smythe in the year to come. Some future goals are to in- crease philanthropy, continue to break commu- nity service records, and grow closer not only as an active chapter but as with alumni as well. We have hundreds of alumni who made this chapter what it is today, and we would love nothing else than to create lasting bonds with them. We are excited for the upcoming golf tournament and hope to make memories that will last a lifetime. With Brotherly Love, Nick Broom '18 Chapter President (314) 914-8639 broom627@live.missouristate.edu Pikes Lead at Missouri State "As a result of this policy, almost all of the once vibrant sororities and women's final clubs open to Harvard women have either closed or had to renounce their proud status as women's social organizations," said Re- nee Zainer, international president of Alpha Phi, a plaintiff organization in the state case. "Together, we are standing up to Harvard on behalf of all students, because they have the right to shape their own leadership and social paths. Harvard simply can't erase the spaces students value for support and op- portunity." e plaintiffs and lawsuits have a breadth of support from nearly 100 single-sex orga- nizations, including the 26 sororities of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), the 66 fraternities of the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC), and the organizations in the Cambridge Coalition. When the lawsuits were filed, the groups collectively launched a grassroots campaign to bring awareness to the issue and the val- ue of single-sex organizations. ousands of people posted about their fraternity/sorority experiences and disdain for Harvard's tram- pling of student rights using the hashtag #standuptoharvard. More than 62,000 peo- ple have signed a petition to make their voices heard.
