Χ Ω 2 The Tau Beta Hoot T he women of Tau Beta strive for excellence within our scholastic and philanthropic endeavors, as well as our campus involvement and alumnae relations. Over the past few months, our members' efforts have been evident through the achievement of many awards and honors. Tau Beta has been ranked "Top in Grades" for 26 consecutive semesters. We proudly earned an overall GPA of 3.63 for the spring 2018 semester and 3.63 for the fall 2018 semester. This GPA can be compared to the overall Panhellenic GPA of 3.39 and the all-Greek GPA of 3.25. Furthering our philanthropic efforts, Tau Beta was given the opportunity to throw a sendoff party for a local Wish Kid, Armando. Armando is 11 years old and was granted his wish to go to Disney World. With Pistol Pete in attendance, Tau Beta loved making his sendoff uniquely special. This spring, Tau Beta is hosting the initial "Paws for a Cause," a picnic benefiting the Humane Society, our local philanthropy. Furthermore, we are hosting a Wish Granter Training for our members later this semester, serving as a way for our members to become more involved with the Make-A- Wish Foundation and take part in granting wishes throughout Oklahoma. During Greek Discovery Day on April 6, our members welcomed potential new members into our home and encouraged their participation in formal recruitment this coming fall. This was the first time for our newest pledge class to be on the "other side" of recruitment and we are excited for what they will bring to our recruitment process. Recruitment is set for August 11-17. Although it may seem like a long way out, we are already looking forward to welcoming the 2019 pledge class! Tau Beta started the spring 2019 semester very ambitious in our Chapter activities. Our achievements include placing first in Varsity Revue while pairing with the men of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. The cast not only won first place overall, but took home best choreography, best female performer (Avery Ogle '17) and best vocals. Chi Omega has paired with the men of the FarmHouse Fraternity for Spring Sing and our members are looking forward to working with another great pairing. One aspect that brings Tau Beta great pride is our members' heavy involvement on campus, as well as academic success. Grace Thomson '16, a design, housing, and merchandising senior, and Kally Gordon '16, a nutritional sciences senior, were recognized as Top 10 Seniors within their respective colleges. Also, Jordan Short '16 was honored in the School of Accounting as a Top Five Senior. This spring, Tau Beta hosted our annual "Little Hootie Night," which was an exclusive night of fun, games, and memories made with alumnae daughters, nieces, cousins, and more at the Tau Beta Chapter House. A constant goal of ours is to make our alumnae and families feel welcome and we hope this event shows our appreciation for their continual support. Tau Beta is a unique Chapter because of our willing and intentional alumnae. The standards they left behind pushes Tau Beta to keep our unique legacy going. We are looking forward to more alumnae events to come.
