Loyally, Tau Beta House Corporation You Always Have a Home at Chi Omega Tau Beta Chapter to Host Alumnae Day and Class Reunions This Summer Chi Omegas Are Sisters Forever How Betty McMurtry Collins '80 and Amy Stevenson Mitchell '80 Went from Being Pledge Sisters to Business Partners B efore Betty McMurtry Collins '80 and Amy Stevenson Mitchell '80 were business partners, they were Chi Omega sisters. Amy was a legacy, so choosing a sorority was easy for her. As for Betty, she found the women of Tau Beta Chapter to be likeminded to herself. Little did the two know at the time that their sisterhood would evolve into a future business partnership! During their time in the Tau Beta Chapter House, Betty and Amy made many great memories together. A specific one that came to mind for both of them was working together making fruit costumes for Varsity Review. The costumes turned out great; however, they would later learn from Ranee Dickey Bugh '80, the then director of Varsity Review, that the cast could not do their dance routine while wearing them. Renee had to change the whole program to accommodate the costumes. Now that is some true sister love and respect! Betty still visits the Chapter House quite often as she is a member of the House Corporation. Their pledge class has a group of around 14 sisters who travel together almost every year. This summer, they are looking forward to visiting Vail while being hosted by Ann Bradshaw '80. Betty and Amy would reunite years later when both of their daughters were active members in Tau Beta. It was there that the two entrepreneurial friends would build the foundation of merging their already established businesses. Amy had been running an embroidery business for several years, which catered to individual clients, businesses, and the wedding industry. Betty had been working as a Dallas-based interior designer that beatified homes and offices across the greater Dallas area. As a result of their shared creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, the two came together to open Forget Me Not, a gift shop in Dallas at the Shops of Highland Park shopping center. Forget Me Not offers onsite embroidery, home décor consultations, gifts, accessories, and home goods. Through Chi Omega's Dallas alumnae chapter, Forget Me Not participates in Chi Omega Christmas. During this event they take items from their store and set up a sales booth along with hundreds of other vendors and thousands of shoppers every November. Both Betty and Amy are proud to have remained involved with the Chi Omega sisterhood as it brought them and their business together. They urge active members to be open to unusual opportunities along their career paths as it can become something wonderful! To see some of Forget Me Not's carefully curated and personally designed items, you can visit the store online at forgetmenotdallas.com.
