A: When I first arrived at Ball State University as a freshman, the first friends I made were all members of Delta Tau Delta. They made me feel welcome and showed me what it was like to be a part of a brotherhood. After seeing everything the fraternity had to offer, there was no doubt in my mind that the Epsilon Mu Chapter was the perfect fit for me. Q: What did your undergraduate experience with the Epsilon Mu chapter mean to you? A: My experience in the fraternity, especially my time on the executive team, taught me life lessons that I will benefit from the rest of my life. Most importantly, it showed me what it was like to represent something much bigger than myself and the accountability/responsibility that comes with it. Q: How do you think Delta Tau Delta helped prepare you for life after college? A: During my four years at BSU, I took on several leadership roles within the fraternity. These positions required that I develop skills that most professionals do not learn until they are well into their career. With that being said, I felt that I was significantly more prepared for corporate America than most of my peers. Q: Was there an alumnus who made an impact on your collegiate experience? A: Our chapter advisor at the time was David Frye '04. David did an excellent job at connecting with the chapter, and at the same time helping us work through all the struggles and obstacles that we were faced with. Q: If you could relive any memory with your fraternity brothers, what would it be? A: Our fall philanthropy called Watermelon Bust. Every year, we host this philanthropy where every Greek organization on campus joins us in raising money and hosting events the entire week leading up it. It is by far the largest philanthropy on campus in terms of participation and money raised for charities. Q: What advice would you give to Epsilon Mu freshmen? A: My advice to all members of Epsilon Mu is that the more you put into the chapter, the more you get out of it. The fraternity has much to offer, including lifelong friendships and opportunities to build yourself into a successful, young professional who is ready for the "real world" after graduation. Matthew graduated in May 2017 with degrees in finance, accounting, and economics and works for Ernst & Young in Indianapolis. He serves as the assistant chapter advisor for Epsilon Mu.
