Los Molinos
Between Red Bluff and Chico on Highway 99E, the most
populated town is Los Molinos with about 2,000 people. The name is Spanish for “the mills” or “the millstones.”

Tehama
Tehama is the third incorporated city in Tehama County, just one mile west of Los Molinos and 99E.
Robert Hasty Thomes is credited as the founder of Tehama. The village began with a ferry service built to service the Sacramento River in 1846.
The city incorporated in 1906 in anticipation of the creation of an electric railway. The project never came to fruition and Tehama is one of California’s smallest cities, with a population of 432.

“Dead End Kid” Leo Gorcey retired to the community in 1956, died there in 1969 and is buried in the Los Molinos Cemetery.

Tehama CountyMuseum Jubilee is schedule 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 11, with a variety of exhibits, activities, entertainment and food. Anew exhibit on the building’s history is the main attraction for 2010.
