Lassen Volcanic National Park
Lassen Volcanic National Park’s
106,372 acres provide a wealth of activities, including snowshoe trips and sledding in winter and hiking and camping in summer. The park gets
upwards of 40 feet of snow annually. The winter’s total snowfall influences the spring and summer road opening dates.
There are more than 150 miles of hiking trails within the park.
The Main Park Road provides good views of the Cascades and High Sierras, as well as access to mountain lakes and active hydrothermal areas. There are eight campgrounds within the park and wilderness is available for wilderness camping with a free permit. Vehicle access is $10 for a seven-day pass. Camping is $16-18 during the season, free in some spots in winter.
