Black Butte Lake
Black Butte Lake is an inviting and accessible recreation area on the west side of the Sacramento Valley. When full, it is seven miles long and has a shoreline of 40 miles. From Interstate 5, take the Corning Road Exit west and turn left on Black Butte Road. Both Orland Buttes and Buckhorn offer launch ramps, drinking water, bathrooms and showers, trailer dump stations, fire pits, picnic areas and pay phones.
Camping is $12-15 April 1 through Oct. 31 and $12 Nov. 1 through March 31. Day use is $4, with annual pass for $30. Reservations can be made up to 360 days in advance by calling (877) 444-6777.
Many campsites can easily accommodate recreational vehicles up to 35 feet in length. No electrical hook-ups are available. Black Butte is a prime warm water fishery. Fishing is best during the spring and early summer months.
Hunting for wildlife is permitted during open seasons with bows and shotguns only in designated hunting areas.
